brand new saiga .223 with crooked rear sight block

I found the problem when I tried to mount a hinged picatinny rail (or what some refer to as a beryl mount) and it would not line up with the tang. Shooting at 100 yards with iron sights my grouping was a few feet off. What can I do to fix this?

That may not be your problem. It could be the rail itself or the sights (front or rear).

i will post some when i get home but it looks to be visibly off when looking down the gun, plus i can tell that the front also looks a little askew... im debating to just say screw the sights and put a red dot and scope on it in case the red dot fails/runs out of batteries

Had the same problem with mine. I had to push the front sight post awkawardly far to the right to correct. I swapped the rear sight leaf with an adjustable RPK rear leaf, and that help alot. A little to the left on the rear sight, and little to the right on the front sight and I was zeroed. Optics and red dots are great, but I would want irons too.

also if i wanted to use a dog leg gen 2 sight mount or any other hinged mount would the crookedness through the rail off enough to not allow optics or red dots to zero?

I also had this problem with a EAA Imported Saiga .223. It turned out the receiver was bent unevenly that transferred the crookedness to the trunion, rear sight block, and finally rear sight leaf. Went through hell with EAA and finally got it replaced with a new rifle. Beats putting a band-aid on the problem putting a rpk sight leaf on or moving your front sight way over to one side or the other. Just something else to check, it seems to be a rare problem and I was just unlucky.
