Thats because its a poll he/someone who wants gun control did, just after Sandy Hook. They asked by phone if people would oppose universal checks. Of course, everyone in their right mind who hadnt thought it through would say "yes", but once they became aware of the problems of registry, etc., they changed their mind (too late though, the poll was swept past you before you knew what you were saying).

They also have a pre-poll screening process, and drop you from the poll if you know what you are talking about.

There was another thread that showed just the sort of statements were made in a poll to get just such a result. If anyone has it, can you post a link? The one from the guy who was hired from fox to write the poll questionaire.

EDIT: found the thread, unfortunately, the link no longer contains the language: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/84916-polls-propaganda-and-enteratinment/?hl=%2Bfox+%2Bpoll

However, the video is pretty good at showing it.

What poll is nobama referring to? I've never seen this poll posted anywhere.

It comes from a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, an otherwise no-name school that has become a leading source of polling information in the last five years.

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes--centers/polling-institute/pennsylvania/release-detail?ReleaseID=1843

http://www.quinnipiac.edu/institutes--centers/polling-institute/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=1877

Notice how their sample size is rarely over 1,500 people, and is conducted mostly in northeastern states.

And yeah, I've mentioned these studies to people who support the "90% want background checks" mantra. They actually have the gall to say that 1,500 people is a realistic representative sample for 315 million Americans. It doesn't matter if you have a degree in statistics - 1,500 people is a 0.0004% sample of 315 million.
