lewie212 37
Any of you guys/gals experiment with these? Do they pattern well? Any pros and cons are greatly appreciated. http://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/product_p/sgm-choke-adpt-modified.htm Edited June 30, 2013 by lewie212
DresNightfire 39
I'm interested as well, thinking about picking up the 3-set (modified, full, and extra full). Let us know if anyone has any experience with these! Here's a good read up on the choke distances: http://www.briley.com/understandingshotgunchokesabriefexplanationbybriley.aspx Edited August 28, 2013 by DresNightfire
Aries144 10
I got the SGM 3 choke set and think they're great- but I found out my Vepr's bore isn't concentric with the OD of the barrel. The Modified choke is the only one of the three that I can safely use, as the others introduce a "ledge" into the bore on the thin side of the barrel. I didn't figure this out until cleaning after a couple of sessions with the full choke! I wondered why the patterns were so eratic...Make sure your bore inside diameter and barrel outside diameter are concentric. If so, you should be good. The barrels seem to be arounf 19", so I'm hoping a good smith can cut the barrel back about an inch without getting into SBS territory and rethread, this time centering the threads on the bore instead of the OD. Should work, if I can find a smith who can turn the whole shotgun in his lathe or knows how to remove the barrel (it looks more delicate than an AK rifle barrel).
