  1. I was finally able to contact Chris through CNC Warrior. He called me minutes after speaking with CNCW and addressed my concerns to my satisfaction. I asked for a refund, he politely agreed, and ow that it's come back, I find that he even refunded the initial cost of shipping. My impression is that Chris means well, but may be burning the candle at both ends.
  2. No luck contacting either company, despite several emails and calls to Chris Bonesteel. I haven't been able to reach CNC Warrior by phone as they close up shop at 2:00pm mountain time and even earlier on fridays.
  3. Thanks GunFun. I'll continue trying to reach cnc warrior.
  4. Anyone know a better way to contact them? They are processing orders but there's no way to reach them in the event of a problem.
  5. Just FYI, I emailed Silencerco about the possibility of permanently attaching the Salvo to a 12" bbl Vepr to have a one-stamp gun and they replied that it wasn't possible because of the design of the can. Too bad. I was thinking it might be possible if you permed the thread-on part to the barrel and then welded at least one of the rods to that, effectively added to the barrel length while still allowing dissassembly for cleaning (I assume the Salvo is meant to come apart for cleaning?)
  6. Any updates? I'd like to buy one of these for my Vepr 12. 3" Buckshot seems to punish the system even with all stock parts/springs.
  7. I had to work on the FCG in my Vepr12 and use a lighter recoil spring to get it to reliably run 1 1/8oz 1200 FPS birdshot and 1oz slugs. It runs like a top now.
  8. Would you mind defining what a good group is for a shotgun with slugs? I honestly have no yardstick to know what's good and what's not.
  9. I got the SGM 3 choke set and think they're great- but I found out my Vepr's bore isn't concentric with the OD of the barrel. The Modified choke is the only one of the three that I can safely use, as the others introduce a "ledge" into the bore on the thin side of the barrel. I didn't figure this out until cleaning after a couple of sessions with the full choke! I wondered why the patterns were so eratic... Make sure your bore inside diameter and barrel outside diameter are concentric. If so, you should be good. The barrels seem to be arounf 19", so I'm hoping a good smith can cut the barrel
  10. Before you buy the SGM chokes, make sure your bore is centered in your barrel. Mine isn't, and this results in one side of the SGM choke creating a "step" in the bore which can be felt with a finger. Probably not good for pattern size and consistency and possibly unsafe. I'm probably going to have to find a smith who can cut the barrel back and who has a lathe long enough to turn the complete barreled receiver to rethread it, this time centered on the bore instead of the outside diameter of the barrel. Must have been a new guy (or tired guy) doing the barrel threading at Molot that afternoon
  11. No, I measured between the bore and the OD of the barrel around the circumference of the muzzle, at the front section before the threads start. It's .042" thickness on one side and .046" thickness on the other side. The bore isn't centered or in-line with the OD of the barrel. Ok, I might be able to make the best of this. I could have a gunsmith center on the bore and thread it for internal threads to make use of commercial chokes. The problem is going to be finding someone who can either remove the barrel or turn it with the receiver still attached. These barrels don't look like they'd be ea
  12. I noticed a slight "ledge" inside the bore when drawing my finger toward the muzzle end where the barrel meets the choke, but only on one side... uh oh. What started out as a review of the SGM 3-piece choke set has turned into a discovery that my Vepr's bore is not centered in the barrel. Measuring with calipers confirmed this. It was .042" on one side and .046" on the other. I had experienced erratic patterns when attaching the chokes, which seemed to get worse with the full and extra full chokes. Shot patterns with chokes would have a amll tightly patterend section with an irregularly shape
  13. Alright! Glad to see this. I hated to see him go originally- he was a great source of information.
  14. There's a company that advertises replacement bolt carriers for Saiga shotguns, and those will work in a Vepr. Unfortunately, no one makes a Vepr oprod. So for a carrier failure, you could conceivably get a replacement. Not for an oprod failure though. I'll post when I get around to buying and modifying that puck.
  15. I fired a couple of 3" 00 buck shells with the puck removed, and the shotgun STILL almost ejected the empties! The felt recoil was reduced significantly compared with firing with the puck in place. I plan on picking up one of the CSS pucks and filing a couple of grooves on the sides to allow some gas blow-by to deal with this. I don't care so much about my shoulder, I'm more concerned about breaking the oprod or carrier. I understand the Russians have seen some break in competition.
