Mountain Man 20
I have been looking locally in N. Idaho for someone to chop my Vepr 12 barrel and permanently attach a muzzle device with no luck in my area. Can anyone make a recommendation? It would be nice if it was somewhere out west to save on shipping but just looking for quality work at a reasonable price, thanks.
ec4321 113
Go with someone with experience on Saiga12s/Vepr12s. The barrels are thin compared to rifles. They generally cannot be pinned and therefore must be soldered on, and you cannot keep heating the barrel up to those temps and it has to be done properly with wet rags to cool, prevent the heat from spreading, etc. Then they should have the proper tools for doing S12/V12 barrels and used them before... Sierra Ordinance Company hooked mine up.
Mountain Man 20
I will look them up, thanks. I am assuming you sent your whole gun in to have it set up and positioned properly, is that right?
ec4321 113
Yup, sent the whole rig in.
improved.flv 5
Make your way west and we can knock it out in less than an hour. After measurements are set I cut the barrel with an industrial hand held pipe cutter & smooth the burr's Thread the barrel with proper tap & die (purchased back in 07 or 08) Silver solder with standard torch and MAPP gas Paint Probably did 15-20 barrels over the years & never had an issue. Pretty straight forward.
