pkang0327 0
Its time to buy some more 308 for my Saiga. I've been using Aussie Surplus, and those have been great. However, I can't seem to find many sites that still have them. What is good ammo and who has the best prices? I've seen 308 surplus in Indian, Portugese, Brazillian, etc... I use a little of the stuff in my SA M1A's. http://rifle-company.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=431 Wolverine
G O B 3,516
Watch out for the Indian, it has an EVIL reputation. The Australian is very nice, I hear good things about the South African, and I have had good luck with the Privi-Partizan. G O B

The Indian ammo is known for two things: 1) It's cheap. 2) It's dangerous. The South African gets pretty good reviews. I just bought the 980 rounds case from AIM and it's sitting in my "bunker" basement all sealed up.

jtoddellis 2
I've gotten pretty decent groups with Austrailian ammo, but I can't seem to find any more of it. I guess I will have to try the South African stuff next.

I guess I will have to try the South African stuff next. I think the real Australian ammo is pretty well gone. There is some ammo made in Argentina under contract for Australia that still can be found but it is not the same stuff and seems to have been exposed to moisture and mildew based on appearance and odor. It works though. You can still find Port but it is almost always linked ammo and sell anywhere from $39.99 to 59.99 for 200 linked rounds. I ran across some Yugo last night. A little pricey but it is brass cased /90's surplus. $22 + S & H for 105 rounds. http://www.polygunbag.com/ammunition.html Otherwise the most widely available, best priced surplus with a reasonable reputation at this point is the South African stuff I mentioned. Wolverine 10,360
southern ammo Be careful. Southern has a reputation for good pricing but also mixing their ammo some of which includes known problem stuff like Indian and some Israeli lots. If you don't mind inconsistent performance and sorting through the rounds to pull out known suspect ammo, I guess the price is as good as it gets. The cited Indian and certain Israeli lots are known to be dangerous. Personally, they can have it.....even at their pricing. http://www.southernammo.com/prod02.htm Look this list over and maybe read some threads on the M-14 gun sites before buying any quantity. http://rifle-company.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=431 Wolvie
