Brown Bear is Mil Spec?

Recommended Posts

sgammo has 700 round spam cans of Brown Bear 7.62x39 Barnaul 123 grain FMJ. Its described as being mil spec. Is this a sales gimmic or is it really mil spec?

  * Does the Russian military use it?

  * Are the gunpowder loads kept to a tight tolerance for each round?

  * Are the cases laquer coated?

  * Are the primers and cases sealed?

  * Do the spam cans use VCI paper to protect the cases from rusting?

  * Etc.?

Pretty sure the Russian army doesn't use 9x19.

Since it's 123-grain FMJ, I would assume when they say "mil-spec" they actually mean NATO spec - but that's 124 grains, so they done fucked up.

Brown Bear was lacquer coated 5 or 6 years ago. I have seen Brown Bear with red sealant before. It is made by Barnaul, who does make Russian Military ammo.  I haven't bought any in about 4-5 years, so I don't know about current production. Whether it is mil-spec or not now - ?
