Quick question about the factory stock screws

Recommended Posts

Well, 1/8" is .125, 3/16" is .1875, 1/4" is .250. Fractional bits, I've used 1/8" and it was tight, but a little grease on the threads helps. 3/16" might be too much because the thread is so deep/coarse. Plus you have to take into account imperfections of doing it by hand drill and "chuck wobble" (runout).

5/32" (.156) would be a good in between.

Grab the screw. Grab your drill bits. Hold the screw up to the light. Find the bit that hides the body diameter of the screw when you hold it in front of the screw. The right bit will hide the body diameter, but you will still see the threads.
