topmaul 42
When I was a kid back in 1980 the neighbor across the street was selling an old rifle he got many years before. He wanted $40.00 for it so I bought it from him. It was a Mauser 98 made in the Spandou Germany in 1900 unlike most Mausers that I have seen this one has a light stock, the barrel has been replaced with the German WWII one and it has some Nazi markings on it. The barrel has been cut down a bit who ever did it did a crappy job cut a slight angle. The stock runs the whole length of the barrel, the front site was re attached. The stock also has U.S. MP stamps on it. The Bolt was turned down by use of a torch you can still see the discolorations. My question is should I have the barrel re-crowned? Yes the gun will fire. G O B 3,516
Barrel crowning works. Some Mosin Nagants are crowned back 1/2" or more and shoot remarkably well. G O B
