semper299 284
Sorry, I know this is in the wrong section, but I was afraid no one would see it in the Vepr 308 section. Just looking for ideas on mounting a bipod to the Vepr 308. Its the version 1, no integrated sights if that matters.
Sim_Player 1,939
Burris on the lower hanguard or attatched to the receiver front (reinforced)? Are you concerned about looks? Have you tried the plastic spring bipods? I thought about buying a dozen of these.
semper299 284
No I am not concerned about looks at all. Just want functional. I have thought about a few options....such as the sling swivel stud that is basically a wood screw. Just screw it into the meatiest part of the handguard. Like I said, could care less about looks. I just want it to be functional without messing with the harmonics of the barrel or the gun. For whatever reason, the VEPR does not have a sling swivel stud, and the screw on the front of the handguard is some unknown goofy thread that it not very sturdy to begin with. So I basically have to install something to attach the bipod to.
Spacehog 2,218
Here is some information on the hand guard screw if you need to replace: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/97218-assistance-request-locate-m5-050-x-12mm-bolt/ If it were me I would drill a hole in the location you want and use a sling stud bolt (not screw). On the inside use one of the flat nuts that com with the magpul rails. Works wonderfully and it will stay low enough to not touch the barrel.

I think you may have told this to me once before a year or so ago. I am bad about thinking really hard on a project for a few days and then getting distracted by another project. Back on the VEPR now, so maybe this time I will actually get a bipod on it. I just worry about splitting the wood. I don't plan on putting any unusual stress on bipod or the sling swivel stud, but then again it would be a good excuse to upgrade to the IWD or Rhineland furniture. Thanks again for the suggestion, and I am ordering a sling stud bolt shortly.
