I found a half-brother today, while searching for my dad.

He's 39

5 years younger than me.

Parents divorced before I was born, in 1971.

My wife found him on Facebook and he verified our grandparents full names and his dad's name and his dad's birthdate.

It was sad to hear that my biological father passed away 3 years ago.

I look forward to meeting extended family (at least online) and seeing a pic of my dad for the first time.

I pulled out my Burgarian homebuilt (by me) AK-74 today.

It kept you guys in my thoughts.

I had to mention guns.

I hope life is good!

The Internet is amazing that way.  A couple of years ago I learned about a bunch of previously unknown cousins that I had never knew existed.  Apparently my grandmother's first husband had split and taken their two sons with him, and she was never able to find them.  My mother in law is big into one of the online geneology sites, and was one day contacted by a son of one of my unknown uncles, and we were able to put him in touch with that side of the family (which I'm not particularly close with, so I still haven't met any of those people).  It was a dream come true for my grandmother learning what had happened to her sons, and getting to meet the rest of her grandchildren.  The sad part was similar to your story, in that one of her sons had only recently passed away prior to contact being made.

Glad you found a brother, sorry you didn't get to meet your father.

Pretty cool that you mentioned guns cause Chevy may have been offended.

It's always good form, to mention guns on a gun forum.

I do appreciate the support.

(Posting a picture of my Makarov...nevermind, it was too detailed, to host).

I am very guilty of being a rule-breaker. Sorry about that. Not!

Found a picture of my dad today. I never knew what he looked like, until today,

Not the best picture but, there are more somewhere.

Here he is, along with a picture of myself, at about the same age.

I'm the one wearing the BDUs.

I've been in contact with my new brother through Facebook.

We may talk on the phone tomarrow.

Just wanted to share.

Finding my dad has been on my bucket list.

I do think that I hate Facebook, though. Facial recognition!?

Scary stuff.
