  1. Gander's regular price on HP ammo is $2.49 & I think FMJ when they have it is $2.99... At least Flint & Saginaw. I haven't been to the Gander in Flint for a while, but the last time I was there it seemed like all they had for 7.62x39 was remington for much more than I wanted to pay for non-deer season ammo....
  2. The local Dunahms is selling Wolf for $2.99 a box, marked down from $4.99 Anyone know if there are better in-store deals? Looking for more that's cheap...
  3. Sherwin Williams sells Polane paint (two component catalized solvent based) that is designed for plastic. They should be able to tell you if it will work with the type of plastic you have. Might cost a bit, but this stuff isn't coming off.
  4. Went out Tuesday morning in the Atlanta/Onaway area (Shoepack Lake). Never saw a thing. My father-in-law had bagged a doe and a six point by 9:30 about a half mile away. Rotten sucker... I left my magazine at home and chambered a single round while I was out. I don't have a five round mag and didn't feel like cutting down my 10 rnd to 5. I figure if you don't make the first shot count you probably aren't going to get a second.
  5. Yeah, I went yesterday morning. My buddy got a dustcover/scope mount for $18. We went to the next booth and another guy was selling the same one (IDENTICAL) for $50. He then pointed to a nifty full-auto AK FCG for $25. Had a sign on it and everything! Guess it's not illegal to sell 'em??? Got weird vibe from the guy so we blew him off...Picked up some Bulgarian black waffle mags for $15 each. Nope no Saiga stuff at all - Sh!t loads of AR stuff though - too rich for my blood... The bersa's are nifty little pocket guns. I almost picked up a hipoint 9mm carbine for $140. Hey, what was
  6. Doesn't suprise me.... Went to the Birch Run Gun show and looked at every booth in the place and didn't see a single Saiga... I did pick up a little Bersa .380 though....
  7. Lapeer always seems to have a few of the 7.62's in stock as well.
  8. You are going to run into a problem with the solder method. Since solder is lead (and therefore soft) it will degrade over use (quickly).
  9. I think you'd definitally have to have something else handy to clean the shaving cream up. Have you ever let shaving cream dry on something or noticed what the shaving cream nozzle is like? Nasty stuff.
  10. It is not glass filled nylon. It's strength is the same as wood and stonger depending on grade. It is a proprietary composite that I can't really say is. I can offer some photo's. It's pretty light weight, but again it's dependant on grade. A one inch square would not break or bend. Think of a one inch square of OSB and you would have somewhat similar properties. The board has been used for coast gaurd drug chaser boats as transom board supporting 4 350 outboards (yes 4). So it is fairly strong.
  11. It's a composite material for use as an alternative to wood. Stonger, lighter, doesn't absorb water, etc etc... but can be cut and shaped like regular wood. It contains stranded fiberglass, so a coating is a must.
  12. Anyone out there with CAD skills is more than welcome to offer a design. I would be willing to have your design cut and shipped to you for the cost of shipping. (My CAD skills are lacking)
  13. I'm most likely going to go with something similar to a dragunov stock. The reason I ask though is because depending on how it turns out, I may be willing to make some extra for a relatively low price. The material I will be using is more or less scrap from regular process.
  14. I have seen the different homemade PG stocks around the forums and have been wanting to make my own for a while now. We recently got a CNC router at work for cutting our custom composite board. I talked to some of the engineers (I'm the IT guy) and they said they would be more than happy to cut whatever I wanted as long as I supplied a cad drawing. One engineer offered to do the drawing for me. Once the stock is cut I'm hoping to have it coated by our in house coating system (Basically the same thing as the bed liners you can have sprayed in) What should I go with? Thumbhole, skeleton,
  15. Not true (at least not in MI). In MI you can buy USED handguns (kinda) at the age of 18. So, have your parent buy the gun you want, and then transfer ownership to you. I had a few friends do this. As far as the Mossberg and 870 are concerned it more or less personal preference. It just depends on who you talk to. I personally own a 870 20ga with synthetic stocks that set me back around $200 used. My Tuarus 605 .357 sits on the nightstand next to my bed and my Jack Russell Terrier sleeps at my feet... That covers defense and alarm systems...
