  1. Do share :big'allears': So far this thread has yet to produce one single actual 'reason' why these stocks 'suck'. If I made a titanium stock and sold it for $500 would you be happy? The Tapco is 'as advertised'. They don't say it's made of gold, and it ain't made of gold. What exactly is a 'bad experience'? Is that when you get a bruise from recoil after a long day of shooting?
  2. that's a bunch of crap for people considering reloading. Not to mention the wasted power charge and reduced velocity from 'expanding' the case. If I'm wrong correct me, but I just found a good reason not to buy a Saiga AK, not that I was ever very interested in one anyway.
  3. thanks. That threw me for a loop seeing that particular text... I will let him know ;-).
  4. I saw this on a website and it got me wondering: I know someone who has a nice bulgarian AK that depends on a US made mag for parts count compliance. He also put a Tapco folder on it to replace the nice Ironwood birch stock that it came with. Is everything cool? tia
  5. I am an ignorant newbie, but what I see is the differance in taking a file to the MD 20 drum and a few monents of your time VS a "$180 reliabilty service" to make the Wratimaker fit the "normal variances in Saigas" That seems to be the point that you may be missing. I didn't get that from any of the videos on the GB posting. I watched 3 of them, they seemed to use brand new guns right from the box for both mag tests... there is something else here, that can't be the reason for the complaining, I just ain't seein' it though.
  6. I love mine. Mine is tight, tough, and very affordable. What exactly is it that you find so abhorrent about them? They're plastic, maybe nylon, and inexpensive, what did you expect? A full metal folder? I think it is a good value.
  7. I don't get it??? I watched the videos and read the GB auction... I don't see anything outlandish at all?? What are you mad at anyone about? The fact that they say there are variances in Saigas? I have 2 12's and the factory mag from one won't fit the other!! I don't have any problem believing that there are variations in the guns... am I missing something here? Both drums look like they would work well for any regular guy shooting (all of us semi-auto folks), and the metal drum looks bad to the bone. What am I missing in your thread?
  8. thanks for the replies. I don't want any jailtime for sure, and I'm not an expert by any means, I just think I know it all.
  9. the whole trigger group is G2 Tapco USA stuff. The handle might be US as well, I'm not sure right now. I'll get a Tapco SAW when I can afford it.
  10. I know that it's not really 'free', given that I used parts from an old AK that I had, but I'm in a financial bind right now, and I was dying to convert my Saiga 12. Well, I spent zero dollars, cut my thumb once, and spent a couple of hours and used my dremel to make this thing work like new: I found out that it was a requirement to use the hammer that came with the Saiga, not the one that came with my Yugo Ak (which will be fixed later, when I have some money), but after a couple hours of aggrivation, I have my Saiga 12 converted. I reused the trigger guard, and I left
  11. I'm very fond of these. A Yugo, Tantal, and a Bulgarian. I don't know anything about a Valmet though, or that other type that Azrial mentioned. But these are MY babies.
