  1. My handguns (barring some surplus stuff I never use): - Beretta 87 Target .22LR (good allrounder) - Taurus Tracker .22LR (more accurate than I thought when I bought it) - Sig Sauer X-Five AL 9x19 (what is there to say?) - Sphinx 2000 AS 9x19 (my IPSC fungun) - Manurhin MR-73 .357Mag/.38Spl (a dream to shoot) The Manurhin MR-73 is an absolute motherf*cker to take pictures off. The deep blue is just impossible to capture on film, as it were. Doesn't help that I suck with cameras and that the lighting was bad, of course.
  2. well, they're not very popular in western europe. when first brough to the market, many years ago, they were unreliable and even dangerous. so after a while they just closed production down. they restared it a few years ago and now it seems people are a bit more positive, but the old reputation is still what's remembered, so i don't know many people who even thought of getting such a shotgun.
  3. meh... the same reason they don't raid them is because they need proof. for the same reason they don't raid many of the religious crackpot camps, the over the top militia camps and so on and so forth. you have to look at it this way: scumbags like them go free every now and then to make sure that YOU have your freedom and liberties. it's like criminals going free due to procedure error in court. yes, it sucks, but quite frankly those laws have to exist to some extend to make sure you remain free.
  4. lol, this is real? i saw a picture of this a while ago and thought it was some guy who mounted it to troll other people with his .50 cal muzzle brake...
  5. happy b-day, Tromix! (i do hope Tony isn't still hammered when he goes back into the shop on Monday!)
  6. a little flask of ballistol is never bad in any SHTF kit, imo. it just has so many uses...
  7. yes, accuracy will improve if you pick .223/5.56 or 7.62x51 over 7.62x39, but how much, i cannot say. i'd suspect about 20%.
  8. most parts don't interchange. and both are NOT based on the AK. the Saiga comes from the AK, the Vepr from the reinforced RPK (though arguably, that's from an AK as well). you can't swap furniture, gas pistons and so on. they don't fit. and the reason for no Vepr 12 in the USA is because they'd have to engineer some dumbass hunting version to be able to import it (the standard is too evil for import) and doing so wouldn't be cost effective since they already offer a cheaper product. that said, the Vepr 12 has better quality assurance and is overall regarded as the superior shotgun
  9. except slugs? euhm, even with the best Brenneke slugs, you're never going to reach the range of 5.56x45 out of a short barrel...
  10. you should really look into the CZ SP-01 Shadow model. it has better sights and a better trigger. the P-01 and SP-01 (non-shadow) are overall good performers for self defense, but if you're looking for some more active shooting (amateur IPSC for fun) i'd strongly suggest the Shadow.
  11. in general, that doesn't mean much. quite a bit of rifles were re-arsenaled. so it's hard to tell. not that that matter much... have some of my finnish M/27 then. while the M/27 had quite a bit of flaws compared to the M/39, they were often more accurate. mine is one of the last few 1000's made, as mine dates from 1939. it also means that it was made straight this way, without the upgrading process in 1935/1936 that most M/27 had to go through. only downside is that M/27 parts cannot be swapped with other mosins. the bolt and such are different.
  12. both 2 and 8 round mags are still available in euroland. 41 and 69 euros a pop. gotta look around some, but you can still find them.
  13. Vepr 12's are not made at Izhmash/Ishvesk. they're from Molot. But currently Izhmash owns most of Molot from a dispute some years ago. Molot couldn't pay up and was forced to sell out. Vepr 12's are based on the RPK, not the AK. they're considered a more upbeat S12. more popular with the european IPSC crowd than the Saiga 12 is. very high quality, much more so than the Saigas, but you obviously pay more. these puppies run 1095 euros. as for interchanging parts? no, most do not interchange, not for american guns anyway (not that it matters, Vepr 12s are too "evil" to import). there'
