  1. you're right. . . . man, so whats the best type of ammunition to feed these things for home defense.? even if i just pick one up and have the mag locked and do the conversion later after i get my 7.62.....so here is my plan.....S12 get it locked....buy the 7.62.....convert the 7.62 to AK-103 and then ill convert the S12 last....how is this sound to you guys? I didn't realize you were in California. Does that communist state limit the ammo you can use as well ? If not, you should use buck shot for home defense. Your economy 12 gauge bird shot ammo will not do the job at much range bes
  2. I'm trying to figure out why people want to live there. Is it the reasonable tax rates? Is it the fact there is no traffic? Is it the fact there are no wetbacks? Is it the fact that there are no punitive anti-gun laws? Is it the fact that the real estate is priced so reasonably? WTF??????? Allegedly great weed, awesome weather, and delectable beach bunnies who soak themselves when they smell money or aforementioned weed. I'll be only too glad to trade away all of these. Although I will miss the authentic Mexican food. You can get a carnitas burrito the si
  3. As long as you have a machete, or even better: a nice katana, you're golden. Blades don't need reloading.
  4. Is your AR15 pre-ban or something? Removable mag pistol grip rifles and the S12 are illegal without that BS Cali-legal config where you need a key to remove the magazine. Both your choices are quite against the law in the PRK.
  5. I am now 650 dollars poorer, and the proud owner of a receipt and stub that says I get a Springfield XD-40 Tactical in a week and a half. Yay!
  6. There are certainly rough times ahead for gun owners and those of us that are pro-bill of rights. Actually, for everyone. The way I predict it though, mass protests right now aren't necessary; we have only to weather the storm. The coming economic depression will be a blessing in disguise. The lazy, fat, apathetic average American we love to refer to so often is only so because all of his material needs are met. Ask anyone who has been in a life or death survival situation: your priorities change dramatically once we are 'unhooked' from the system, so to speak. I could be wrong, but I think th
  7. I'm intrigued. Is this two-more-extra-magazines thing a 'participating locations' deal, or an incentive just for the XDM series or something? Edit: Never mind, just checked the SA website. Too bad XDMs aren't available in the PRK...
  8. Thanks for all your info, Saigaczech. I'm sold on either a XD or CZ75. My problem now is availability. I'm having a hard time finding these guns with tritium sights in stock locally. How much of a pain is it to install aftermarket sights on either of these pistols? If it's not a big deal, that would make things a lot easier. BTW, the HSC test is a complete joke. I got 30/30 after glancing at the pamphlet for 90 seconds.
  9. Self-aware, malicious people are easy if you understand them. They are often intelligent, imaginative and have regard for their own well being. There are a million and one ways to cancel the threat of such a person. There is only one way to cancel the threat of a zombie.
  10. I used to arm up with those in the Navy. I have a couple of buddies that swear by them, and I think it's an okay gun. Who knows, I may even come back to it if I decide that everything else is a POS. Admittedly I've only actually shot the M9 and some Sig or another that I wasn't fond of at all. Thanks everybody for the advice. Keep it comin if you got it!
  11. I saw one at Sportsman's Warehouse for $475, I think, in .40SW and without bells or whistles. No tritium sights. My biggest concern with the CZ is parts availability (especially with the looming possibility of an import ban). I suppose though if it's as durable as I'm reading, it shouldn't really be a big concern.
  12. I've decided that even though I'm relocating to a class 3 state in a couple of months, I don't want to risk being caught without a handgun in the midst of a firearms price explosion after the inauguration. So I'm off to get this HSC out of the way and get me a sidearm now. I'm still a little undecided on what to get though, since opinions vary tremendously. Based on secondhand opinions I'm inclined towards a CZ-75 in either 9mm or 40SW. I am more attracted to the 1911s, but the price is a bit steep and it seems that the risk of a lemon is a bit higher than I like to see. So based on this,
  13. Personally I think the Zombie mania is an outlet for the modern American's homicidal urges. If we go around talking about wasting people with our nifty Saiganovs we get red flagged in a gov't database or something. If we talk about blowing the faces off Zombies, we're just harmless weirdos who have seen too many ghoul flicks.
  14. We had a terrible movie contest on the last persian gulf deployment I did. It's an artful thing; a movie that's just terrible enough to be hilariously pitiful but not so bad that it is depressing or harmful to one's mental health. Here are some of the better ones: S.I.C.K.: Serial Insane Clown Killer Killer Klowns From Outer Space Cannibal: The Musical The Labyrinth (A fun drinking game here is to drink every time Jennifer Connelly bitches about something or the audience can clearly see David Bowie's package. Anyone who remembers this movie will attest to the inherent danger of such a game
  15. If one was in the market for a 30-80 year old Winchester/Marlin/Savage/Mossberg .22 bolt rifle, then this the best show ever. They had tons of em. I wonder if more than half of em even work? The only articles of interest were a couple of Garands (the cheapest going for $800..) and exactly one Saiga .308 for $700. I know it's a given, but I'll say it anyway: Kalifornia sucks.
  16. Countries like Israel need compulsory service to keep up the fighting they've been carrying on for decades. Not that I'm against war, just the opposite, but if we don't have a real meat grinder war going on then we don't need a gigantic military. I do agree that the military is a great opportunity for personal growth, maturity and skill building. I shudder to remember how ignorant I was before I joined.
  17. All very well said. I would like to further add that most people jumping on the survival bandwagon or even a lot of long time survival nuts (Like JWR of SurvivalBlog) possess a mental picture of survivalism that in all reality requires that one be independently wealthy to properly prepare. It didn't take me a long time to throw my hands up in frustration reading the endless 'buy this' articles and blog posts. Most of us do not have tens of thousands of dollars to buy a 20 acre sustainable living retreat in the midwest. The old school way of ensuring one's survival is to find a powerful (ri
  18. If he wants reliable and cheap to shoot, I got two words. Single Six. He can get like 3 of em if he trades in his Kimber. Seriously though, I've been looking around at the Makarovs a while in search of a cheap shooter. I haven't read anything devastating about them, but I have not shot one yet, or even seen one. You might ask around about those. 9X18 ammo doesn't seem too expensive.
  19. When the kitchen knives are outlawed, only outlaws will have kitchen knives.
  20. Hmm...I have one stock Saiga 7.62. And am considering buying a pistol.
  21. Nobody seems to believe me when I tell them this. They all seem to think they are some kind of mega kung-fu master who can disarm any attacker carrying any weapon, with their bare hands. That is until I take out my pen and say, "Okay. Pretend that this is a knife. Try and stop me from disemboweling you." After I 'gut' them they usually shut their trap. Although I had one person once tell me that it was unfair because if he was being surprised on the street he would have reacted better. I'm not sure how he arrived at that conclusion.
  22. Any law enforcement person is limited only by his level of corruption. Legally the guy can't do anything about it if you're legit, but otherwise it's best not to piss him off or put him on edge. By 'gun handle', you mean pistol grip, yes? It is usually illegal to have a pistol grip and normal capacity mags in the PRK, but the rifle you linked uses the workaround of requiring a tool to remove the magazine. As I understand it, for whatever reason that makes it Kali-Kosher. Really you can get whatever gun you want, even P-90s and such, here as long as it has that tool removal config. I wo
  23. After a little more research, it appears that the bids for a Con Con are tallied annually. So we have 32 votes this year, which leaves 2 more votes in the next 13 days. Not very likely, I suppose. I really need to stop reading news links from Survival Blog.
  24. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=...mp;pageId=83837 http://www.americanpolicy.org/sledgehammer/victory.htm Essentially these people are saying that there's nothing in our constitution that says a state can pull out their bid for a constitutional convention once they've submitted it. Ergo, a corrupt congress and radical executive branch could use this loophole to call a Con Con even though most of us don't even want it. Furthermore, there's nothing that says exactly who represents each state or even if each state gets to be represented. More scary still is that there is no limit o
