  1. 922r can be confusing, I'll try to help. Your S-12 has 14 "counted" parts. Adding the pistol grip makes the gun "non-sporting" and therefore subject to 922r, as you have surmised. The Tapco stock replaces one foreign part so you then have 13. You still need 3 more, since you can have no more than 10 forign parts on a non-sporting weapon. Some guys count on US made magazines for compliance (since they are comprised of 3 parts) but it's iffy. Staying away from the FCG this really only leaves you with: 1) Handguard, 2)Gas Piston, and 3) Muzzle Attachment. Does that make sense to y
  2. Not exactly. 922r states that you can't possess a foreign assault weapon, or in proper terms, an imported "non-sporting" weapon. Mag capacity over 5 rounds makes the gun non-sporting and thus subject to 922r. 922® only states you cannot assemble a rifle or shotgun that is prohibited from importation. http://frwebgate1.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/T...action=retrieve I believe it's USC 925(d)(3) that talks about firearms for "sporting purposes" and their importation. But it does not specifically state that a shotgun magazine capacity over five rounds makes it non-sporting. However
  3. 922r doesn't deal with round capacity. Unless your state has a problem with it there is no limit on number of rounds. 922r basically says is you cannot assemble a weapon banned from importation using MORE THAN 10 foreign parts from a specific list. So if you change a Saiga 12 from it's stock configuration you have to make sure you have ten or less foreign parts (from the specific list). From what I've read a Saiga 12 has 13 parts (that are on the list) and possibly 14 if you have a threaded barrel (which assumes BATFE would call the thread protector a "muzzle attachment"). So if you use a USA
  4. Those aren't my videos. They're just ones I used when doing my own conversion.
  5. I agree. Once you do it you won't need any help on second one. If you can afford a second one. I think I'm up to around nine bills with just bolt ons and drop ins.
  6. Here's a picture of my valley girl as she currently looks. I plan to add one of Cobra's gas tube shrouds sometime. Chaos Warthog muzzle brake, Surefire (SGM) railed hand guard, Tapco SAW grip, Tapco T6 stock, Tromix modified Tapco FCG, Tromix DIY trigger guard
  7. I use needle nose locking pliers, myself. But I use internal receiver blocks, so I put screws (thanks to ripper1 for kindly posting that idea) in all the empty holes, so you're going to end up drilling out the 4 side holes with 3/16" bit anyway . . . I put an 8-32 screw in the bottom hole. I used some stainless steel hole covers from Home Depot. They're in the hardware section by all of the screws. Look in the big slide out drawers. They're 3/16" in size (labeled that way) and cost $0.85 each. You do have to drill out the receiver holes to 3/16".
  8. As I keep saying (but nobody seems to listen) you dont need to drill those pins. A cold chisel will roll the edges up and they'll come out easily. This is usually much quicker and less stressful than drilling. The only time I use a drill is on the huge center rivet holding the Klinton plate on (and for the bullet guide). Won't a chisel end up marring the finish on the receiver? Not that I have a cold chisel in the first place.
  9. I just completed a PG conversion today and I wanted to share my notes while they're fresh in my mind. First, the video done by newmodedvd was a big help. It isn't done on the S12 but it was pretty much the same. The S12 does NOT have the pistol grip hole so you'll need to cut that out OR get the Tromix DIY trigger guard. http://www.vimeo.com/2787027 One thing that was frustrating for me on the demilling was the removal of the rear FCG pins. You have to drill them out as shown in the video but mine kept rotating. I had to reach in with a pair of needle nose pliers to grip the pin so it
  10. The Tromix appear to be modded for the BHO. I just installed one today and it worked fine with the BHO. Well worth the extra $20 to have someone else grind and then refinish the hammer.
  11. I'd just like to add the Tapco T6 stock made for the AK works. I just put one on today. You'll want to drill the holes for the stock with the pistol grip off. I used a simple pan head screw on the bottom hole where the factory stock attached. The factory screw is too big. Once you have that one on you can install the pistol grip. The top two factory screws work once you drill out the holes for them. Be sure to mount the front screw flush or the recoil spring assembly won't seat properly.
  12. Is there an instruction page for the Warthog? It seems pretty obvious I know but as an example the instructions for the S12 Wave brake says to use anti-seize. Does that apply to the Warthog as well? Does having a barrel nut change anything? Thanks
  13. I had the same problem with both of my SureFire mags. What I gathered by studying the two was this. The receiver magwell corners are round. The magazine corners are square. All I did was put the front of the mag in place as normal and finesse the back of the mag into the receiver. The metal of the receiver basically shaves off whatever plastic excess is on the mag. Kind of a custom fitted magazine. Rock solid now but I was concerned at first.
