  1. I have the 19" saiga 12 with only a cylinder choke. I went rabbit hunting today and as I expected, I couldn't get enough distance to hit any rabbits past about 25-30 yards. I'm planning on ordering a full choke from EAA. Will this give me much more distance with my shots? I was using the cheap Walmart special 2 3/4" #8 1 1/8 oz. shot loads. Will I notice a larger effective range with just the full choke or do I need to step up to 3" magnum shells? Thanks.
  2. I remember seeing one picture of a Saiga on this board with an ACE tubular skeleton stock on it and it looked incredible. Does anyone have any pics of any Saiga (rifle or shotgun) with one of these stocks on it? Thanks.
  3. You don't want to commit a felony do you? Saigas are on the list of "No No" guns in California. You can't legally own a Saiga because it is listed on the AWB list for CA. Sorry.
  4. Is there any place to get chokes for a Saiga 12 besides from EAA? Does anyone else carry them? I need a full choke for my Saiga 12 19" adjustable choke model.
  5. Are there any retailers that carry the 22" barrel Saiga .308? CDNN doesn't carry them and I don't want to pay the terrible prices on gunbroker.com. Any ideas where I can find one?

Can you tell me, is that the 22" fixed full choke model? That's what I'm looking to get if it is.
  7. Which model are you getting? The .308 in 16"? Or are you trying to get the 22"? I'm currently waitng for payment for my Hesse HK91 clone (someone is buying it) and I'm going to pick up 3 Saigas. a .308 16" barrel, a 7.62 x 39 16" barrel and a Saiga 12 gauge 22" full choke model. All for the price of my HK91 clone. I can't wait to start converting.
  8. Yes, it's perfectly legal as long as you add 5 U.S. parts (ie, FCG is 3 parts + buttstock + pistol grip), then it is totally legal.
  9. can anyone else tell me if the full choke model will have too tight of a patter for shooting trap?
  10. I bought 1960 rounds of South African .308 surplus with free shipping, and it shoots great from my HK91 clone. Although there is no longer free shipping get some here, it's worth it: Aim Surplus
  11. Ya, that is a bit pricy still ($0.40 a shell). My main question is this: Will the 22" barrel with the full choke only give me TOO tight of a pattern for trap? For the rabbits I'm not really concerned because I do have to shoot from longer distances many times, but shooting trap, I would hate to not hit many clay pigeons because I felt like I way trying to hit them with a rifle. But I'm pretty sure that that is not the case with the full choke and that It'll be fine for what I want to do. After all, it still allows the load to spread out, it's not like I'm shooting a rifle.
  12. I'm thinking that this is the model I want to get (CDNN $219). I've been planning on getting the $269 19" model with threaded barrel so that I can change chokes. But the more I think about it, I'm only going to use it for rabbit hunting and trap shooting, so I figure I want a full choke for the maximum distance. For $50 less I can get that and a slightly longer barrel to help out, plus it comes with ajustable sights just like the 19", and I won't have to spend another $50 on chokes. The only thing it might not have is the bolt hold open feature, but that doesn't matter because I only shoot
  13. once a Saiga is modified for hi-cap AK mags, does the drum work just fine? Or do you have to fiddle with it a little?
  14. Does CDNN carry the 20" model? I'm looking to buy one of these in the near future and I've never seen the 20" model listed on any retailer's websites. Where can you get them?
  15. I'm pretty sure it's from these guys http://www.ergogrips.net/ak.html I have the same grip on my HK91 clone, but mine has the palm rest
  16. Can someone explain what the different chokes are good for? Is the full choke good for trap? I want to get a 12 only to shoot trap and jackrabbits, but I also would like to be able to shoot slugs every once in a while. What kind of choke would I want for these activities? Or would the non-threaded barrel be ideal for this? THanks.
  17. Tok, what barrel length did you get? 19" or 22"? Also, did you get the threaded barrel? Can someone explain what the different chokes are good for? Is the full choke good for trap? I want to get a 12 only to shoot trap and jackrabbits, but I also would like to be able to shoot slugs every once in a while. What kind of choke would I want for these activities? Or would the non-threaded barrel be ideal for this? THanks.
  18. So, will the standard Choate thumbhole stock for a Mak90/AK work with the Saiga 12?( I don't like ATI stocks)
  19. What can we do to generate more traffic here? We can post links to the forum at all AK and related discussion forums. Wherever saigas may be talked about, we should post links to this forum. there is hardly one new thread per day.
  20. Can anyone else offer any opinions on which one I should get?
  21. I'd like to put a dragonov style synthetic stock on the Saiga that I'm going to buy because all of the Saiga's that I've seen have very cheap, thin, hollow buttstocks that feel weak. I have a choate drag stock on my SKS and it is incredible. I'd love to get one for my Saiga.
  22. I'm planning on buying a Saiga 12 gauge shotgun and I was planning on buying a 22" barrel with the changeable chokes, but a Saiga owner emailed me and told me that he likes his 19" barrel better, both for looks and for performance. I only plan to use this shotgun for clay pigeons and for rabbit hunting, no self defense. I'm worried that the 19" will cause poor performance when trap shooting with my buddies and their "conventionall" shotguns with 24-28" barrels. Which length should I get? Also, which length is more likely to come with the bolt hold back feature installed? Thanks.
