  1. I think I'm gonna stay with the wide open cut off for now. It's intended as a house gun for my wife and maybe some CQB with slugs against the evil east Texas hogs overrunning my friends ranch. I ordered a rail mount intended for a shotgun barrel. I am hoping I can mod it so it will clamp to the gas tube and let me mount my Bushnell micro red dot. Then Ill be in business! More to come.
  2. I just psoted some pics of my Kushnapup 410 bullpup. Indy also didi a great review with videos of an S12 Kushnapup and I did a mediocre review of mine in 410. I have ordered another Saiga 5.45X39 to do a Kushnapup rifle build. Should have some pics by mid June. I got my Kushnapup in 3 days after my order. They are for real!
  3. Here are a couple of pics of my 410 bullpup. I added a longer buttplate per Indy's suggestion in his review and bobbed the barrel to 18.5. The overall length is 30 inches. I am liking this gun more and more, but wont really get to wring her out until mid June. The handling is superb! The one down side is that I cant imagine being able to shoot her with drum mags. I have already ordered another 5.45X39 Saiga to do a Kushnapup rifle.
  4. Great review! I cut the barrel of my 410 Kushnapup to 18.5 and its a handy 29 inch package. Should be the ultimate 410 home defender! I orderd a 545x39 yesterday and will be doing a rifle conversion to the Kushnapup. Love your simple solution to the tang issue. I will be doing that also.
  5. My Kushnapup almost finished. Needs an optics rail and barrel bobbed to 18.5
  6. Great points. I justified this a little because I usually take the easy out and use CSS conversion kits. My conversions cost $150 to $200 so whats another c note right? Good eye on the pics. I taped a leftover rail from my S12 quad rail to get a feel for the 410 with Optics.
  7. 1st "review" with my impressions prior to live fire is up on this forum.
  8. OK Ladies and Gents and all the rest of you. There seems to be some interest in the Kishnapup bullpup. I recieved mine yesterday and installed it on a recently acquired unconverted 410. Here's the 1st of what I hope will be several "reviews". Scope of project: I have honestly wanted a bullpup for awhile. I went down the path of the Shernik for the SKS but after 8 months, I was tired of waiting. Acquired a nice 410 with 3 10 round mags for 3 bills and then found the Kishnapup and decided to go for it. I wanted a PDW that was as short as possible and could be used by both myself and m
  9. Hey risky. When I put the bullpup on my unconverted 410. I got the best AK trigger Ive ever used. It has a 2 stage feel with a long pull then a stop then a pretty crisp let off. You can adjust the linkage to shortene the pull but I haven experimented with that yet. Ill post some more info later, impressions etc and let Indy do a full review. I got my stock 3 days after ordering it so he should have his very soon.
  10. Roger that! I think your right about the 12, it seems a little light duty to me. The 410 feels right and I think it would be great on the rifles, 556 and 545 especially. Out of town for the next couple of weeks but I'll do a review on putting it together and general impressions and then do some live fire review.
  11. I just acquired a Saiga 410 and have wanted to do a bullpup so I ordered the Kushnapup stock. I have it trial fitted and functioning on the 410. If there is any interest, I could do review on it. Posts will determine interest!
  12. Looking for a cheaper way to break in my new 410 before I do a bullpup conversion on it. Im new to the 410 and I cant quite figure out all the posts about all the different ammo. This stuff is less expensive than the Winchester stuff. Wondering if anyone has tried it. My gun is currently stock except for a Carolina shooters puck and lighter spring that I had laying around from my Saiga 12.
  13. Thanks for the info! I wasn't going to rethread the barrel so I wasnt too concerned about diameter. Ive cut dozens of Mauser barrels down using a tubing cutter and hacksaw plus a little facing with great accuracy, so I figure a shotgun intended for 25 foot home defense would be easy. I have alsi decided to try the Kishnapup bullpup on this project as I am looking for the shortest gun possible. I will probably hold off on the barrel bob until I get the bullpup stock installed.
  14. Cycling issues is what Im concerned about.
  15. I got a 410 today completing my Saiga collection of all calibers. I will do a basic conversion on it but dont like the long barrel. Any issues with bobbing it to 18.25? Anyone doen this?
  16. Hmm, Im not sure. It was in my parts box, marked made in USA. I used one of those thread adapter collars and dimpled the barrel on my drill press to hold it on.
  17. I recently finished a basic 5.45x39 conversion. I got a chance to shoot it this past weekend with a Red Head 2x7 scope. PICs speak for themselves. The gun: 3 shot group using Silver Bear 60 grain ammo at 100 yards:
  18. I like mine. I have a BDC 3X9X40 that I paid about 70 bucks for on a 6.5X55 Mauser I built up. Clear, bright and holds zero. What else do I need. It is heavy though. Of course I like my BSAs, so I must be nuts....
  19. Gents, I picked up a coveted 308 Saiga with the 21 inch barrel and wood furniture and it has an odd Russian scope on it tht I am trying to identify and dtermine the magnification. The scop is shiny black with red IR. Here's a pic:
  20. I saw a post that uses AR15 rear arpeture sight parts to creat a peep sight on th rear cover of an AK. GOtta try it on my Saiga but Im no AR guy and cant find those parts online. Cab anyone point me in the right direction? Here's the post http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=16767.0 And heres the parts I need: Parts and material list: AR-15 A2 aperture AR-15 A2 rear aperture leaf spring. AR-15 A2 windage screw. AR-15 A1 or A2 windage drum.
  21. Thanks, I kow the guy did it himself so I think Ill pass on this one.
  22. Yep, I looked at some of the thread but what I neeed to know is what to look for on a rifle that has this conversion? How do I tell if the job is botched?
  23. I am looking at a converted Saiga 20" with the AR mag conversion. I know ther can be issues with the trunion being weakened if done incorrectly. What should I be looking for?
