  1. Price and projected turn around if I send the S308 down? Slug-O is hooking me up with a 14x1LH to 5/8-24 adapter so the S308 is the only one Ill need to get threaded now? Thanks Eric
  2. Thanks for the info, sent them an email about ordering one. Even if it doesn't work, I'm only out $25. I put an email out to Lonestar Arms and Tac47 to see about the thread job, see what they say. Thanks Eric
  3. How does that scope rail mount to the pistol and what brand is it?
  4. I put this in the NFA section as well, but this area gets more attention. So my S308 is threaded 17x1 RH and my AK54R is 14x1 LH. I need them both to be 5/8-24 so I can put an AAC muzzle brake on them for a suppressor. Who does good, concentric threading and doesn't take months to do custom jobs? I love Tornado Tech for the standard jobs, but they're taking forever lately and custom jobs are WAY down their list. Thanks Eric

  6. Care to send that my way as well? I'm also thinking about buying/building a Krink. Thanks Eric
  7. 5.45x39. I'm guessing the angle of he part provided was to sharp and it entered a no-no area for the bolt carrier that the factory one doesn't.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I ended up using some plain old water while I was cleaning the gas tube after shooting corrosive ammo and it loosened it up enough to twist it off. Just a really tight gas tube set up.
  9. About half way down there are four crappy cell phone pics of the 74 I put the dust cover on with an Eotech mounted. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=59837&st=30
  10. No worries man, just let me know if you need any additional pics or want the recoil assembly piece mailed back to you guys. I went back out to the range today to get a zero at 50m. I used the completely factory recoil assembly and the only difference was that when it came time to open the dust cover I had to use the scraper/screwdriver/front sight adjustment tool in the cleeaning kit in order to push the "button" in further than I can with my finger in order to get the dust cover past the textured/serrated portion of the "button" on the factory recoil assembly. I opened the dust cover
  11. I suspect it was the laminate from the handguards. Makes sense. The Waffen Werks 54R comes with AK100 style poly furniture so the melting laminate/sealent issue isn't there. 750 with free shipping from Centerfire with 2 mags and a free 30 something piece rifle/pistol/shotgun cleaning kit seemed doable. Plus it gave me a chance to use the PSO-1 I've had for awhile.
  12. The steam may have been the grease from around the recoil assembly cooking off. There was a ton of it on mine when I got it. I broke the recoil assembly down and wiped most of it off and I still had some heavy smoke until I fired the first 5 or 6 rounds off, then the smoking stopped and I didn't have any more the rest of the day. Just a thought.
  13. It was 35 degrees here today so that may have aided the lack of heat, plus it has AK100 style upper and lower HGs (with the metal insert removed on the lower for the barrel). I did 1 string of 20 rounds with time in between due to zeroing and what not, then did another 20 about 15 minutes later, then the final 20 (not shown on the target) were done in about a minute with the only stops being to reload and from a couple feed issues (dealt with those by dropping the mag and pushing the round all the way to the back of the mag again before retrying). No steam, no melting handguards, most certainl
  14. So I finally got a chance to get my AK54R out to zero the PSO-1 scope and see if it's as good/bad as i've heard. I put 60 rounds of surplus light ball through it today and the only issues were mag related. Think I need to flip the springs around in the mags as I've read before that some springs were put in backwards and it will effect feeding. This rifle shoots great and the brake on the muzzle does a great job of dealing with recoil. After 60 rounds of .308 from my S308 I'd have a sore shoulder. With this weapon it's simply not the case. Plus, that 16" bbl makes a great fireball:)

  16. I received and mounted my Texas Weapon System Gen 2 dust cover/pic rail earlier this week and got to hit the range today and zero an Eotech on it. The mount was soild and there was a very miniscule amount of side to side twist in the dust cover when it was on. I'd bet is was the dust cover itself twisting and not the hinged portion in the rear sight block moving around. I took it out today and easily zeroed, opened it up, closed it shut, fired again, rinse and repeat through 75 rounds; both off of a rest under the front hand guard and then standing once the Eotech was zeroed. There
  17. TWS covered the weight question somewhere along the process of designing and testing and the total addition only came to 4oz or something crazy like that. Removing the hefty Com-bloc dust cover and putting their parts on didn't add up to much of a difference. Plus the weight is over the receiver, not hanging out there closer to the muzzle. I've noticed no difference except less roll due to the Eotech sitting lower than any side rail mount option. Taking it to the range this weekend so we'll see how it does with retaining zero. I think it's going to be a winner though since there is a litt
  18. There is nothing to stop it so it will hinge towards the muzzle until it contacts itself up at the hinge. I would guess it goes 20-30 degrees past vertical towards the muzzle.
  19. The peep is a little taller overall than the notch of the factory rear sight but the hole inside is fairly large and doesn't appear to be much higher than the factory rear sight. I laser bore sighted my eotech today and for S&Gs I took a look at the irons with it as well. Taking the usual stance, cheeckweld and grip I normally do it looked like it was still dead center left/right if I quickly snapped to a sight picture. The elevation may be a tiny bit different, but that's a much easier fix than getting the left/right good to go.
  20. I put the pics up in the S308 section where a thread is already going...not sure if a mod wants to move it or not. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=59837&st=30&gopid=587140&&do=findComment&comment=587140
  21. I received mine as well and just installed it on my 74. Bad cell phone pics, but you get the idea. Took about 5 minutes to file a tiny bit off the bottom "wings" of the rear recoil rod assembly they give you to get a tighter fit with the dust cover. Just removed the rear piece of the factory recoil rod, replaced with theirs and put the factory spring and front piece of the recoil assembly back together. I removed the rear sight leaf spring while I was test fitting but put it back in once I mounted it for real. As with anything AK the parts are adjustable front to rear so the rear of the du
  22. It's not a true "bolt action" as we normally use the term. To cycle it you simply pull the charging handle straight to the rear and release. 10th Mountain had these in AFG back in 04. Never heard much about them positively or negatively. Kind of an unneeded system for a fight in the mountains I guess.
  23. I got an email today stating mine should arrive in 2-3 business days. Should have it mounted 15-20 minutes after I get it and out to the range whatever weekend comes afterwards.
