  1. Thank's man. I try to mention Saiga-12.com as much as I can in the Saiga vids I've done to drive traffic this way. Good to know I'm not the only one who made that mistake with the TAT.. It would have been nice to catch that one by watching someone's video. Thanks for watching man..
  2. Shoot, I almost filmed that part too, but I did that a couple of weeks ago.. Noted. Thank you.
  3. Hey guys So, I posted a video documenting how I threaded my Saiga barrel (mistakes and all), basically using information I pulled from this forum, so I thought I'd post it here so others can potentially benefit. If you watch, please let me know if you see any gross errors, and I'll do my best to fix them with commentary on the vid. Thanks everyone. -noBuzzkillin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_2VeQ5owrs
  4. Ok, went back to the hardware store, and bought a different pipe cutter, a cold chisel, and a vise grip. Got home, put on the new pipe cutter, and gave it ONE twist. Heard a crackle sound and the dang thing came right off!! Haha... I was literally 1 turn away from having it pop off when I stopped and decided to ask you guys for help.. haha.. Unfortunately, NOT threaded. Thanks for the input fellas.
  5. Thanks Mark So, to your eye, it doesn't look like I'm getting close to damaging the barrel with the cuts I've made so far? There is that outer layer, then one more layer before getting to the actual barrel, right? Was a little nervous about the "middle layer".. Figured it was part of the shroud, but wasn't 100%. Thanks for your input man.
  6. You mean hit it length-wise or along the pipe-cutter cut?
  7. Hi Guys I haven't posted here for quite a while, but I'm in a spot with removing my barrel shroud, so I wanted to ask for some assistance. I read through the forums here, and it looks like there is a consensus that a pipe cutter is the best tool to remove the shroud. I have a dimpled, non-stepped, 09 Saiga 7.62x39, so there is a chance that I've got a threaded barrel under the shroud. I went at it with a cheap pipe cutter, which broke. I bought a better one, but I'm not sure if I'm making enough headway getting through the shroud. I obviously don't want to bugger my barrel, so it's time t
  8. Hey Guys, I just wanted to doubleback here again, now that I've had it to the range and tested the bolt on retainer. The short is, no issues whatsoever. Stayed on during the session, and upon closer inspection, had no slippage. Check out the shooting vid here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrg0CNvL828
  9. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Much appreciated, and good to get confirmed by experts that I wasn't completely off base. Whenever I talk about conversions, I always throw people to the saiga-12 forum, because well.. it just rocks. Thanks again.
  10. Hey man, thanks for the reply and the info. I'm looking forward to getting it to the range for testing. I'm glad you liked the CMR vid. It's a fun scope, and cheaper now than when I got mine. It's pretty heavy, but I still like it a lot.
  11. Thanks buddy. Good to know I wasn't COMPLETELY off. I was worried a little bit about the depth of the notch..
  12. Hey all I haven't posted for a while, so I hope you all are well. Yesterday, I used one of the carolinashootersupply's bolt on retainers, and added some Kvar furniture to my Saiga. I followed the instructions, but since it was the first time I have done this, I wanted to hear if you guys could check my math. In the name of helping other with this project, I posted a video here: Let me know if I did it right. I want to correct the video if not. Thanks
