  3. Sooo.... i have a perfectly runing s12 (3 port) all nice and converted. It runs like a dream. i dont even have to switch setings if i run wally world fed 7.5 shot.(i get a few fte if i use #8 on seting 1 but that is what setting 2 is for) On an avarage range trip i could shoot any where between a 150 to 200 rnds.(a mix of 00 buck, slugs and bird)My thing is my gas tube gets filthy and my ruskie puck is caked with crud.(the really hard to get off crap) The puck itself is usally a b*tch to get out, and when i do i usally have to soak it over night to get it really clean and i know im not gettin
  4. this happend to me abot two or three weeks ago... my top cover came of easy anough but it was the bolt that ras the issue... i was lucky enough if i jamed it forward it was just enough to clear and get out of the reciver.(although that little trick took almost an hour to pull off) if ya look back you can read that your bolt hold open spring poped off and can easily be put back with a small knotch were the spring sits so its not so easy to happen again!!!
  5. congrats on the saiga!!! ive read even some good runing saigas dont like winchesters... as for the incident at the range i thought dirty looks was half the fun of owning a saiga 12!!!
  6. wow guys!!! all very good ideas!!! losing the tool comparment is the reason i only wanted it to be semi-permanent as well... i kinda got this idea floating around in my head about drilling out two holes in the recoil pad and backing out the screws in the buttplate a little to pop into the holes but not sure if it would even help... i guess im of to lowes this weekend... thanks again !!! keep thoes ideas coming if ya got them...
  7. i know this is still pretty new... any one try it yet?
  8. Mine holds tight to an AKM buttstock. I wouldn't want it any harder to remove. As for the strap, This is what it's for. thats it!!! like i said it on there pretty good just wish it was a tad better...
  9. This past weekend at a local show i picked up a 1 inch thick slip-on recoil pad that fits normal a.k. stocks. It the kind that came with a small velcro strap. I thought to myself this will tame thoes slugs and made the purchase! i get home and am pretty happy! its a good fit, feels great, looks ok and adds a little length to the stock wich i like. problem is while it stays on "pretty good" id like to make it a little more permanet with out messin up my stock. i dont want to glue it on, so im looking for some ideas... i figure someone on hear must have used one of these things and thought
  10. well i got a cheapo quick detach side mount in the deal when i picked up mine. i mounted a bushnell trophy series red dot on it and its worked quite well. if i detach it and put it back on making sure its all the way forward and on tight it holds zero pretty well.
  11. WOW i like them both too!!! to the o.p. its nice to see somebody put some work into the factory setup!!! by the way how do you like the hangaurd??? ive been thinkin about pickin one up and was wondering how solid it felt...
  12. its funny, i thought id be cool with just livin without it but it really dose help...
  13. Touche! http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=51322&view=findpost&p=478907 i just had this happen to me last weekend!!! i removed mine and and put in a washer. but have been pondering doing the notch and reinstaling it... Hey was it ruff gettin the bolt out? it took me and a buddy around a half hour to get the bastard out!!!
  14. thanks robrez that actually in someway makes me feel better!!! lol and thanks hobbyshooter im gonna give it a try!!! the way i look at it if it happens again then ill pull it out for good. this has been the only blemish on an otherwise perfect saiga...
  15. thanks guys!!! i would have never thought of adding a washer!!! i may try to reinstall it with the mod. so if i under stand right you just put a little slice where the spring leg sits? but not to deep though...
  16. so yesterday i went to the range to go practice with my s12. i pulled back the bolt engaged the bolt hold open and inserted mag. i pull back the bolt and let it go and nothing.... the bolt hold open was still engaged! i try again...nothing. i flip it over and the bho is now inside the reciver!!! I had no way to close the bolt. So i call a buddy from the forum who has alot more knoledge then me and take it to his place. after some work he got the bolt out and found the BHO came off its spring. we decided to remove it altogether so it wouldnt happen again. my question is is it ok to run like th
