accidently canted the front sight, how to fix?
icefire replied to icefire's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Well, Ive seen that tool, but my entire front sight assembly is moved from the barrel up, and that tool only moves the sight pin IN the assembly. Somehow I got the entire assembly moved, is there any way I might have moved the entire barrel? I will take a pic tommotrow and add it in...has anyone ever accidently moved the barrel? or is it just the pressed on front sight that moved? I cant tell. its just a bit off, but you can tell easily by looking down my quad rail.... -
While adding a tantal muzzle brake on my Saiga x39, due to having a folder on it and wanting to make it legal folding length, I torqued on the brake so tight to get it indexed that my entire front sight is now a bit canted to the left. how do I fix this? Just carefully whack it with a rubber mallet? or is this something serious that a gunsmith will have to fix? I did use the search function, and a lot of talk about WASR's and canted sights, but I cant find how to actually FIX this issue. thanks.

I cut mine all the way back to the fsb also. I bought a extra deep Phanton FH from Dinzag, and when I realized the same thing you did, that I had a 1/2 inch unthreaded piece there before the threads, I e-mailed Dinzag. He let me send it back, and bored it out so the first 1/2" goes over the unthreaded part, and snugs up to the fsb. He did it for only a few bucks, too....theres pix in my gallery...

http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&img=2844 Doesnt wiggle. You can tighten up the folder button in the open or closed position. It's an HDPS all aluminum stock, with a steel and aluminum HDPS folding mechinism....looks a lot like an Ace....

Bought a new Siaga 7.62 and have some questions
icefire replied to siaga7081's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Thanks for the advice. Maybe some who has done it and then regretted it can reply? Price is good and is simple to do. At this phase of the game, I am open to all opinions. Found these reviews. http://www.cheaperth...-6.html#Reviews I live in Cali and converted mine after first buying a tapco T6 PG stock lkinda like yours. Yes, regret set in, and I converted it, very easy, and I had never worked on a centerfire rifle before in my life. As for legality in Ca, YES, you now need a mag lock, due to the pistol grip. It is listed as an 'evil feature' by the state. Get a PRK arms -
My 09 had all the good features. (threads, handguard notches, No step barrel, etc.) Guess Late feb-March 09 were a good batch!!

Myself, I got the method in the CSS video to work. Long needle nose pliers, and use an old pin from conversion as a slave pin to keep everything lined up while you slide in the real pin from the other side. I did have to put more of a bend in the spring like others do as well, though...It works if you keep trying, it took me twice, but the CSS method of lying the plate over at an angle and using needle nose worked...

I can wait, thanks, PM me when You get ready to send it....I think that will work. If not, i'll try the conduit trick above... -
A company called HDPS now makes Folding stocks and folding mechinisms very similar but a bit different than Ace products. You have to cut the tang like an Ace to install on an AK. They mainly make HK accessories. The push-button folder mechanisms are steel and aluminum, not just aluminum, and their skeleton stocks are all aluminum, no plastic or polymer. Just put one on my x39...

here's a calculator to help figure it out.. http://jobson.us/922r/ -
Yeah, that's an issue right now, I'm gonna put on an adjustable push-button vertical grip so I can just push a button and move it to change mags...
