  1. I am working on this stock at the moment. I will be spraying it with Duracoat once I am finished.
  2. If you use regular spray paint, cleaning solvent will remove the paint, unless you are very careful. I sprayed my forend with Black Duplicolor hi temp paint, looks nice but I am sure if I get solvent on it its going to peel. Just make sure you use scotchbrite and rub the surface, then wash it with mild soapy water, dry thoroughly and you are ready to spray.
  3. No hardchroming on the bolt carrier. I polished it.

Florida is darn humid. Plus I am using a Aerosol sprayer, think I will use reducer. The Aerosol sprayer dont have as much PSI as a Airbrussh so I might have clogging issues if I dont use reducer.

I am going to use a Aerosol Sprayer, and no reducer. The gun was Aluminum Oxide today, but I will wash it down with Acetone before I spray it. Knock on wood, I hope it turns out ok.

You guys are funny Anyway, I am about to shoot my gun with duracoat. Any advise?
  8. Duracoat is looking at me as I smack these keys. Thats the last step. It took me two months before I had the nerves to gut the receiver. I will be building anothet S12. My next 12 will be done by Jack. .
  9. Yeah, you are right. That is some serious metal working equipment. My wife works at a machine shop so I have seen some stuff. I was shocked when I saw Jacks equipment. No job too large or small for his equipment to handle, and not to mention his knowledge on Guns.
  10. I spent some time today with Jack Travers, he is one of the nicest down to earth person you could ever meet. Jack is in the process of moving his shop, so I figured I get some work done since it will be a while until he gets all his machines up and running again. Talk about equipment, state of the art milling and metal turning machines, not to mention his bead blasting and sand blasting machines. Jack has everything to make a gun from a block of steel. My wife works at a machine shop and was going to get all the work done for me but when the owner found out all the work was on a gun, th

  15. Those are two beautiful guns! Too bad we cant have them.
  16. I used a 3/32 bit which measured out to .093 on my caliper.
  17. Great job! were you running over to the tripod, looks like the recoil from the gun loosened up the camera
  18. I opeoned up my three ports to .093 and cleaned up the opening to the Gas Block. Sipping on a bit of Vodka and watched some TV while doing this.
  19. Could not get the correct angle with my Camera to take a good pic, so I reflected the image into a Mirror. What do you guys think, Stepped or not stepped?
  20. See the round seal, the manufacture date is right below it.
  21. Aftermarket bolt on retainer sounds good. My pond have a lot of talapia, I was growing some huge Bass they were up to swallowing Nathan Hotdogs, I also fed them Cheese. Then we had a crap load of Rain my pond and the canal got so high they all swam out, now all I have are small bass.
  22. Gary, I bought it from Gun Country. Its the dealer right by the door as soon as you walk in, there was a bald headed guy there that was a real JERK, got his panties all up in a wad over me inspecting the Gun I bought. Did you buy a Saiga also? There was a guy there filling out paperwork waiting on a Saiga, I overheard him, while I was waiting to pick mine up, was that you? From your story I would have bet a week's pay that you bought your gun from Gun Country. No that wasn't me yesterday, but since 1979 I've probably bought over 30 guns from them. The bald guy is Ira & that's just the w
