CSSPECS mags are by far the best. I have 5 and have not had any feed issues. I feel they are well worth the money. Yes they are heavier but I don't mind the extra weight.

I used a mill for most of mine. But I finished it off with a dremel. When I used the dremel I just went slow and checked for heat. I used the carbide bit and it worked great for finish work. I finished it last Friday and went to the range on Monday. I shot 80 rounds as fast as I could with out a hiccup. Some of the mags are difficult to seat and remove, others just drop free. I will probably try another 100 rounds tonight.

Well, this is how I fixed mine without pulling the gas block and drilling out the ports. 1. Send you bolt to Pauly for his glass bolt special. 2. Buy a booster piston from MD Arms. 3. Reassemble the gun with the polished and new parts. 4. Have fun. My gun is a three port (I am not sure of the port sizes because I misplaced the gauges Pauly sent me). With low brass is was only a single shot. I would get a FTE or FTF with every round. With high brass is worked time. (Note I am using a Gunfixer Plug on the 3rd setting for my low brass) I followed the steps listed above an

I wish I had tried the ones you listed. I have only tried the Tapco and I am really pleased with it in my 308 (I bought it from Dinzag converted for the 308). I find it to break crisp and light, better than the standard M16 triggers I have shot.

Pauly, My gun is a vodka special. I ordered the booster piston. Once I get it and you get a chance to finish my parts I'll try them together and post the results. I am crossing my fingers for some good results.

With a topic like this you might want to look at some of the recent threads. This seems to pop up daily. Be prepared for some ridicule (might want to put on your thick skin now). Or in the words of my boot camp company commander, "Stand by to stand by". This meant we were in for a world of hurt.

I ordered the booster piston today (less than $20 kind of a no brainer for me). As soon as I get it I'll do a review on how it works for my FTE problems. Hopefully between the work Pauly is doing and the piston it will cycle low brass.

Mine won't cycle low brass, high brass seems to work fine. With low brass it becomes a single shot. I have the gunfixer plug in it(came with the gun). I have Pauly working his magic on the bolt group right now. Hopefully it will cycle better when he is done. If not I will be looking to purchase the booster piston to see if it helps.

Once you get in there and "do it" you will be amazed how easy it is. You will wonder why you even considered having someone else do it for you. Besides it forces you to learn more about your guns. Just remember if you think you need to get a bigger hammer, STOP and rethink the situation or ask someone for clarification(personal experience). But if you do use the bigger hammer rest assured it is an AK and fixing the screw-up is pretty easy. These guns are quite forgiving.

I agree with Bohound. If you already have a 12 gauge then get the .308. An 870 is a fine weapon and will work for what you need it to. Is it a Saiga 12, no but it will do the job more than adequately. In my opinion you need an semi-auto center fire rifle to fill the gap in your arsenal. The 308 would be a great choice. If price of ammunition is a concern you can get a 7.62 or .223 Saiga. They would also work well for the intermediate shots. Just my $.02.

Problem fixed. I used a 5/8" brass punch and shimmed up the inside. There is still a little bit of deformation but it went back together just fine. I finished the conversion and reassembled it. The retaining plate went in with out a problem. I will work it a little more but it seems to be in working order. You have got to love AK's. Even after some monkey with a big hammer jacks it up you can still fix it.

Yea I realized my mistake. I really don't know what I was thinking except I wanted to hurry and get it done. If nothing else I now understand my aks much better. I even had a second opinion before I jacked it up. I know who not to go to for advice in the future.
