  1. I havent been on the forums in a while, but im hunting for a .223. i plan to start a project on building a SAW imitation from a Saiga. I know, sounds crazy. But anyway, i need a Saiga .223 and they are out of stock on my regular sites. Did Russia do something or is this just coincidence?
  2. No Aresenal for me. Also no Kvar. Anyone who supports Harry Reid will get no money from me. Understood, but also keep in mind that anytime you buy an AK, even an Arsenal, you give a gun banning liberal a migraine, or worse. Anyway, if you are bored of AKs, why get a Galil (which is extremely similar to an AK) or a Saiga? You might as well get something else. you make a fair point, hotdog. haha. And thats also why im thinking twice about the Galil. I do love my AK's, but im just ready to try something different at least for this next rifle. As for the 7.62x39 and w
  3. thanks for the help. this would be my 3rd conversion. That's whats actually talking me out of it. i have 2 saiga's already and im kindve ready for something new that isnt an AK. My concern is that ill have another rifle that's the same as the other 2, that has a different stock, handguard, and caliber. i know i might be contradicting myself here, im just kindve bored with AK's i guess.
  4. No Aresenal for me. Also no Kvar. Anyone who supports Harry Reid will get no money from me. Yeah, I'm sure thats EXACTLY what K-VAR had in mind when they decided to setup shop in Nevada... get a life... http://armed-and-christian.blogspot.com/2010/10/arsenal-corporation-supports-harry-reid.html i have a life, thanks. I also have a sense of political awareness, and i dont support people who try to take my firearms. sorry that i know who i support and who i dont, care where my money goes, and hold to my morals and values. I know that isnt a very popular thing to do anymo

  6. For my next firearm im considering the FAL and Galil. However, if i decide the Galil i dont know what would be best, a Golani or a Saiga conversion. What is going to get me closest to an actual Galil and further from an AK? i know a Galil is basically a variant of the AK, but i mean as far as i dont want to take it to the range and everyone just know its an AK. Anyway, just a question. Hopefully someone here owns both and can tell me the difference.
  7. my girl took this picture while me and a marine buddy of mine were out shooting. turned out nicely.
  8. "I'm Lovin' It" "Saiga, Have It Your Way" " The "Laser" " "AK, Always Low Prices, Always" " " hehe.
  9. I might be secure enough for most stocks, but the PRS is a friggin' beast heft-wise! When the recoil kicks it back, it just wants to pop that thing out. What made it come out a few mm for me, was probably when I dumped a mag off the hip at the end of my shooting session. As I mentioned, I really tightened the hell out of everything and did use LocTite. Doesn't seem to be enough, at least not for off the hip shooting. Well, there is one way I could get in on tighter... The way that the MD Arms Molot grip is designed, the screw head starts going right through the plastic base on the bottom if yo
  10. Hey. I don't see any holes for the receiver block on your rifle... Have you shot it much? How's that receiver block holding for you? It's a CSS block, right? sorry im so late getting back to you, havent been on here in a while. I have all the same parts as you, infact mine is even LESS secure screw wise and thought the same thing you do. i bought the CSS block, but i also modified my rifle for an AR trigger guard which mounts differently and doesnt allow a pistol grip nut like on normal conversions...the pistol grip instead attaches directly to the trigger guard. When i asked greg he
  11. Thanks! its Harris. Yeah, i love the look i get from it. first i was going to make a PSL out of it, but then i actually got the inspiration for that stock (and the whole rifle) from the NTW 20. i know it really looks nothing like that beast, but as i said, inspiration. midways through the rifle i started looking at systems like the ACR which made me decide to throw the folding stock in there....then decided if i wanted to get a NON PSL sniper look, i need to make this thing look like an AR is much as possible. couldnt find a good AR style barrel for it, but Greg says they are atte
  12. FINISHED So much work and complications, but its done.
  13. actually i just completed my conversion last night. i personally think the PRS is str8 pimpin. I havent had a chance to shoot it yet, but just holding it up it feels so comfortable. and once you adjust the cheek and LOP its ridiculously personal. feels like this rifle was molded for me. However, i also added in a folding stock mechanism. That buffer tube will not work for the PRS. for the PRS you have to buy the internal receiver block (http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-372/Saiga-AK47-Internal-Stock/Detail), a buffer tube adapter (http://store.carol
  14. I cut the tang off, installed an internal receiver, installed a folding stock mechanism which also acts as an adapter for a buffer tube, M16 length A2 buffer tube extension, and the beauty it was all made for: THE Magpul II Precision Rifle Stock 2nd Generation. should get here today. also am in the process of ordering a nice scope and a monopod for the rear.
  15. Im trying to find some good optics for my.308. Im aiming for the sniper look and performance. I dont want to break the bank, but i dont want to sacrifice for price to the point where performance suffers. so i guess im looking for just above middle of the road. i prefer something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Vism-Vantage-Full-Size-Sniper-Reticle/dp/B003SZVHCY/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1287079622&sr=1-11 anyone have experience with one of these or an opinion of it? is this too cheap?
  16. No kidding. when i figured that out i was pissed. i drilled that thing forever...ended up having to take a hammer drill to it, then a crow bar. The 7.62 just popped off sooner than it even should have according to the video...but the .308...lets just say it compensated for it. The conversion is done. all thats left is the buffer tube and stock which should come in tomorrow. ill put picks up then!
  17. Just fixed it. there's a little notch cut out of the reciever that the AR guard was covering...i had a hunch and just decided to cut the guard away from it....did so and the trigger runs smoothly...not sure what that is used for but it must matter. lol. got everything on except the stock and buffer tube...which hasnt came in the mail yet. plus i need to file to safety lever when i get back home. might send it to someone to thread the barrel and put on a break...i just dont have the courage to do that. plus i need to find someone to refinish it. the other conversion didnt look too ba
  18. ok, since you posted that ill specify my new and hopefully LAST problem. see that right piece on your trigger? i dont know what to call this but the far right piece that sticks up...just the bottom of that angle is conflicting with a screw holding the front part of my trigger guard down (the one nearest the mag catch). i either need to file the screw or that. im worried about filing the screw because of support for the trigger guard. should filing the bottom of that be okay to do?
  19. Okay so i figured out another problem i now have. Seems it all originates from these AR parts. What a surprise....putting the wrong parts in a rifle dont fit. haha. I mentioned one of the set screws in the way of the internal block....well the other set screw is holding the disconnector sideways...making everything twist up. The hammer isnt setting, the trigger isnt in the right position in the middle of the guard...and the hammer doesnt release unless you pull the trigger really hard. so i guess i wont get the FCG in today either. ill dremel the hell out of the AR trigger guard set screw
  20. Haha, i know. blasphemy. Trying to get something no one has tried to do before here. well...thats unrealistic...something NOT MANY people have done. Hey you mentioned something to me about a safety a while back....ive got the whole trigger group together now...and the safety wont go on...did you say i need to file down the safety? its hitting the disconnector.
  21. this has been one of the most hands on skill challenging things ive ever had to do ever. And ive been a carpenter since about age 14. a lot of shit went wrong...but a dremel can fix ANYTHING. ive done the basic conversion drilling, installed an AR trigger guard that conflicted with pretty much everything on the rifle. the internal block being one of the main problems with it. i have to grind this thing down so the set screw on the AR guard doesnt interfere....which is taking forever...these things are made out of some hard stuff. ive cut, grinded, sanded, and finished my AR pistol grip f
  22. OK i see "that spring", how the heck do i get this thing out...and do i need to reuse it? BTW thanks for the quick response al, youre a life saver as always!
