  1. Okay, I got the SGM trunnion installed, it looks like the when the stock is completely collapsed that the safey selector does hit the guide rod, but it doesn't interfere with function, this does not concern me as I've stated before, these are the pics I got, hopefully y'all can see what you need, if not I'll take more, sorry for the amature workmanship, I'm jsut a hobbiest:) By mikeg253 at 2012-09-16 By mikeg253 at 2012-09-16 By mikeg253 at 2012-09-16 By mikeg253 at 2012-09-16
  2. The Nordic threaded right into the SGM, I haven't had a chance to work on it, but I know its going to line up, that safety selector is going to be a problem clearing the Nordic though, good thing I'm going with an AR style safety.
  3. This is a question I may not be able to answer, I am in the process or removing the side mount, but it does look like an optic mount would interfere, it's not tight when there is nothing there, but if you had a side mounted optic it looks like its tight enough to interfere. As soon as I finish it, I'll post pics from all angles so you can see what I'm talking about.
  4. Hah, I'm hoping to get the trunnion installed tomorrow, you sir will be the 1st to know
  5. SGM Tactical rear trunnion AR adaptor arrived today, I'm happy to say the Nordic Components CRS threaded perfectly into the trunnion, its going to fit like a glove, I now need to order the AR style safety:)
  6. UPDATE: The SGM Tactical trunnion showed up today and the Nordic Components CRS I plan on using threaded perfectly into it, looks like I won't be needed to tap the SGM trunnion after all:) I'll get pics up ASAP:) I'm hoping to work on it tomorrow.
  7. I use to be a cop and everyone who ever saw the show "COPS" knows the "Badboys, badboys, what ya gonna do?" so BadBoy and I'm from the Rio Grande Valley, so RGVBadBoy was born.
  8. Thanks again for your insight, you are a true asset to the Saiga community. unfounded internet rumor I would like to hear your impressions of the SGM adapter and I am curious about the weight of it. Post some pics when you get it done. I am particularly interested in whether or not it makes the AR tube line up with the bore or not. Will do, I need to re tap it though, from what I read, it is threaded for commercial tubes, the Nordic Components Retractable Stock i'm using is a mil spec item, I'll post pics as soon as I can.
  9. Goose, are you using a mil-spec tube or commercial? I ordered the tap to rethread the SGM if need be, I don't need to, great, but I build a lot of AR rifles and its a tool i needed anyway. Thanks, Mike
  10. That adapter only works if you have your rear tang correct?!?!
  11. Awesome, that is what I'll do then, I have one out completely, the one in the front, I'm changing the rear trunnion out for the SGM AR adapter, so I needed to remove that one anyway, that middle one looks like its going to be the biggest problem.... Thanks again for your insight, you are a true asset to the Saiga community.
  12. So, I'm putting the R&R Targets AR style safety selector switch on my S12 and am trying to remove the scope mount on the side of my S12 receiver, can anyone give me some tips? Maybe post a link? Or ANYTHING that would help me remove this thing, I've got plenty of experience working with AKs, I've just never wanted to remove one until now and I NEED IT GONE!!! Thanks guys.. Mike
  13. Sure, I'll try to get some soon and post em', I'm not gonna lie, the clearance for the safety selector is tight, but some mild filing should take care of it IF ANYTHING AT ALL. It won't be a problem for me because I intend on using the R&R Targets AR style safety, but I'll post it anyway. As far as the adapter I'm using, its the regular bolt in from mississippi auto arms, but I'll be swapping it out for the SGM Tactical rear trunnion mount.
  14. I dont know about dropping it, but I'm pretty sure its more durable than a regular M4 telescopic plastic stock.
  15. I ended up ordering a 1 13/16" - 16 tpi AR receiver tap from Brownells http://www.brownells...VER_TAPS___DIES. The tap took quite a bit of material out of the trunnion. All of my buffer tubes (mil spec and comm. spec) now thread effortlessly. I also ground the bottom tab on the bottom of the trunnion flush to match the receiver. The trunnion buffer tube threads are definitely out of spec. So be aware that you will have to spend some extra cash on a tap or be creative and use a wire wheel like Plastik did above. I just went with this, I needed that internal trunnion mount, it had the wrong t
  16. If you like it and haven't cut it, just get the AK version its cheaper, but if you already cut it, you can use the AR adapter version... I think its gonna look sick when its done, I'm really impressed with how beefy it is.
  17. Yup, looks like I'll be using the SGM Tactical rear trunnion mount, hopefully it'll work.
  18. Tony, I want a weld in stock adapter that till allow the stock threads to fit inside the receiver, inside the trunion, do you know of such an item? Thanks
  19. So, I'm seeing that its not gonna happen me using a weld in piece that will clear the trunion, gonna have to come up with another option because I don't have a rear tang..... If my receiver still had the tang intact, I could have just gotten the one for AKs, but I don't so I had to get the AR 15 version. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  20. Okay, in the pic below, you will see the button that is located on the side of the base, its a pretty pronounced button made of billet steel aswell, it has a roll pin at the end of the rod that keeps the steel rods from going past the stocks base, I tried to get some better pics, but my phone camera is just unsatisfactory. This is the way it looks mounted on an AR 15 stock adapter, but I'm going to do a weld in one, I'm gonna try to get the tube adapter to sit inside the receiver, an inverted tube adaptor, I'm just hoping I can fabricate something that will clear the trunion By mikeg25
  21. Okay, the stock came in today, my S12 is completely taken down, gettting ready to be sent to Tac-47:) but I was able to mock up the stock with the old bolt in ar stock adaptor and old safety selector switch and MONEY!!!! IT FIT LIKE A GLOVE!!!! I'm so goddam excited, it looks SICK!!! As for the stock quality, it is crazy good, the stock base is made of billet steel and feels extremely durable and sturdy, the rods themselves are a heavy gauge steel and seem to also be extremely strong, the whole set up feels extremely tight when mounted, i'll try to get some pics of the mock up so y'all can
  22. I really like some of their stuff, I wouldn't mind putting together a Draco pistol with that handgaurd... Looks sharp!!!
  23. I like it too.... I think it'll be fine with the recoil, I don't think the S12 has too much recoil anyway.... If it works, it works, if not... Oh well, I didn't break the bank on it....
  24. I literally have no idea... I just read on Midway USA that its pretty awesome so I bought it.... I had a gift card then a coupon code so its an experiment... But you guys will be the 1st to know
  25. Sorry, its supposed to say S12:( After building a bunch of ARs, I recently begun working on my S12 again. I purchased the Nordic Components Compact Retractable Stock because I haven't seen an S12 with one and I didn't want to get a folder, it hasn't arrived yet, but when it does, its going right on. I'll also be adding a Tac-47 magwell.... Check it out!!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
