I took to my saiga to a local pawn/gunshop today to show the gun-nut behind the counter. He thought the Galali mags would work or come close. Yes....no....I have no idea. Thanks for the e-bay tip. I've been watching some of them and they either go higher than what I want to pay or I miss them. It cracks me up that people will pay as much, or more in some cases, for used items than what they would cost new. Doug

I don't know if I'm posting in the right section or not, but does anyone know of any other type of open sight to put on an ak? There was a peep or ghost ring type on an Armamlite I saw that seemed really nice and I thought that would be really cool on my ak. So, just wondering if there was any aftermarket bolt on type of sights out there. Thanks, Doug

That's funny you say you saw what the dealer paid for it. I called one of the distributers and wanted a price. He laughed and said "why would I tell you what the gun costs. The dealer I sell it to can decide how much he wants to sell it to you for." This was after mentionijng the transfer fee ect. I just hung up. Anyway mine should be here Monday or Tuesday. 340ish shipped. I'm a member at a range and the transfer fee is $10. Not to bad I suppose. Talked to one of the distributers and was going to buy a .308. I wanted one with a bolt hold open. Should I wait for the next shipment or get it while I can? My other ak's don't have them so I think what the hell. But then it would be good to have it. What do you think? I'm gonna call around and see what I can find. I know most here are probably Saiga biased but are there other options in a comparable price range in the configured style that will shoot full powered .308's. I had a Cetme but heard from a lot of people on other forums not to shoot modern .308's but the 7.62 nato. I'm guessing by the time a Saiga was bought and converted it'd be what.........about $650-700? Or am I way off here? Thanks for any info. Doug

Thanks again. I've had several pump guns. The last one I had I really liked but used it toward a trade for my first Kalishvinov(I know I spelled that wrong) style rifle. I now have two and want more......S-12 and the .308 for starters. If I can get a S-12 I think I'll be good to go, especially if I can fit it with choke tubes. Anyone shoot slugs out of thier S-12's? And what type off competition do they have at the tactical meets? Thanks, Doug

Can the S-12 shoot 2 3/4" and 3" shells? Do you need to adjust the gas port or anything? I thought I read something hear about that with the .410. Also, what is the bolt stop and the muzzle adaptor? Is the adaptor a choke system? I'm wanting to get one if they ever become available and am trying to decide which one. I want it to be a versatile weapon. Home defense and field use. So for that I want a choke system. I some come factory. Or would it be better to get a smooth bore 24" and cut it back a little and have it threaded to take Mosberg/Remington chokes? New forum user question. What type of ammo can be shot through the Saiga .308? Does it have to be 7.62NATO? I had a Cetme and was told by several not to shoot .308 WIN due to difference in pressures. Is the same case with these rifles? Also does anyone hunt with them. Thanks, Doug
