  1. You need a receiver that has never been built with a stock. Therefore, you'd either have to make your own, or get Tom Cole to sell you one. Then you would need to have a donor shotgun that you could use for the parts to make your AOW.
  2. Easy. Straw questioner. Ask a friend or family member to ask the question FOR you. Have them write a letter asking the question. Let them know the letter will be posted on a local internet chat room for all interested voters to know.
  3. Very True. The ATF is a pain in the ass that way. Did you see the recent article in the Washington Times regarding the NFA "Secret process" of approval and denial? LINK HERE.
  4. I beg to differ. You can use any buffer tube you would like. However, you can NOT own a spare stock that can readily attach to that buffer tube. I submit, exhibit a.
  5. My personal favorite too. Shoots fine and looks great. I may get a Ruger Mark series one of these days, but right now, for plinking in the yard, this is a "perfect" combination.http://www.revolverforums.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=46&pictureid=280
  6. Yeah. "Sporting Goods" generally covers that little technical issue.
  7. Just send them in. If you want to wait for the check to clear, that's fine. I sent a couple in at the begining of last month, and then 2 more, and just today sent another. If you get them in close enough together, they all come back at the same time!
  8. I did the boyle's law calculation at various barrel lengths. However, with the bullet drag in the 16" barrel, off gassing would drop the velocity down to about 850fps. I think the best way to retain velocity close to 1000fps mark, my best bet is to shorten the barrel and perm attach a shroud as above. Then I could use the Trident 9 on it, or even the Liberty Mystic. The Mystic is a bit longer so it would be about 18" overall, but it would be A LOT quieter. Since I've already sent a form 1, when it comes back I plan on doing a REALLY SHORT 5" barrel with a perm attached monocore. The
  9. As you may be aware, private ownership of silencers has recently been legalized in Michigan. The law on the books says that in order to own a silencer in Michigan, you must be properly licensed by the United States Treasury Department. For a long time, it was interpreted to mean you had to have an FFL and SOT. The problem is that in order to be a dealer for silencers you need a clientèle. Not so easy to come by. Attorney General Bill Schutte wrote a letter on Sep 2, 2011 that interprets the transfer stamp process meeting approval for this requirement, in effect allowing for private owne
  10. Well, Yeah. That's the crux of the issue. Though I already have an SBR, and I can use it in Free states, I still can't bring it into Michigan. However, if you leave the short barreled upper home in the safe, and put on a 16" upper, you have a Title 1 firearm and you are free to treat it as a Title 1 firearm. I can bring the the 16" barreled upper and the lower into the state, as you would any title 1 firearm. Just leave the fun bits at home. No requirement to bring a 5320.20, nor any need to have your Stamped Form 1 as long as it is has ONLY the 16" upper with it. I discussed this ad na
  11. I've seen similar builds. I think I'm going to do a more "traditional look" with this one. I'll use a mid length handguard and let the shrouded barrel stick out a few inches. I've been looking at some different ideas on how to do the porting. One school of thought is to port like the HK MP5's. Some 30 2.5mm holes near the chamber of the gun. This is how they get 115 and 125gr bullets subsonic in the HK. However, I handload all of my rounds, and 147gr aren't very hard to load for this rifle, so I think I'm going to try to keep the velocity from dropping off like that. Looking at q
  12. How did they sound? The 300 Whisper *should* do pretty well with a similar setup, provided the gas port and the distance to the barrel port are appropriate.
  13. I went to a multi gun match in Michigan. Stupid laws don't allow a SBR in that state....So, I strapped on a 16" upper and my SWR Trident9 and went to shoot. My shots didn't register on the timers! So it was QUIET, but it wasn't "handy." I was talking to a friend who suggested building a Michigan Legal 16" upper with an integral suppressor! I thought, why not? How hard can it be to port the barrel, add a blast baffle, expansion chamber and baffles out front? I've contacted a friend of a friend and we're going to try to get one done before next season. With some 16" of chamber spa
  14. They make this in a 16" carbine version. It has a barrel shroud (Fake suppressor.) I don't think it would be TOO hard to make this into an integral suppressor........Just saying.
  15. It looks so bad ass with an Osprey on it, I had to put that on a form 4 too! (Did I mention, I'm a SUCKER!) Yeah, the Osprey is Upside down. Looks better that way, imvho.
  16. Congrats to Michigan! That's a tough(er) nut to crack. Michigan law expressly prohibits SBS and SBR's. It would take the house and senate to pass a law repealing that ban.
  17. Hahaha, no worries! I hope you didn't take that as a criticism aimed at you. I wish they were cheaper, can't afford the expense at the current price - happy for you that you can! I don't think that makes you a sucker - just a guy with one more cool toy most of us don't have. Good on you, and on Kriss, getting their policy changed. That's a fucked up Ohio law I was not familiar with. Could easily entrap innocent folks. I don't take it as criticism at all. I wish they were cheaper as well. I probably should put that money into something else. I guess I could get a Harley or a
  18. Like I said, Shandlaos, I'm a SUCKER. I freely admit it. But what will you do? I have a couple HK P7's too. Unusual is attractive to me!! I sent an email to KRISS USA and they went ahead and changed their policy re mag sales to Ohio Residents.
  19. I didn't say anything about loading and inserting. if you read my post, I pointed out that there is no mag capacity restriction, you can buy, sell trade, own etc.. any size capacity mag. Valid point. Owning them is not against the law.......
  20. I took the time to write an email to KRISS USA. I would urge any Ohio resident who finds this to be annoying to send a similar email. I referenced the Cleveland V. State Slip Opinion as well as the ORC applicable.
  21. yeah it's like the 5.7 pistol mag extention. where you take a standard 20 round 5.7 mag, take the floorplate off, insert the extention and spring and then put the floorplate on the bottom of the extention. it's what that moron used in Ft. Hood. the sad thing is that there is no pistol or rifle restriction or mag capacity restriction anyplace in ohio, that KRISS claims. the Ohio supreme court ruled last Dec. that cities can't make up gun laws more restrictive then what the state aleady has. and there is no mag capacity restriction, you can buy, sell trade etc.. any size capacity mag.
  22. I don't know if they're like the 5.7 extensions. They can be seen here. I've decided to increase my pistol caliber carbines because I can shoot them on my own property without upsetting the neighbor's horses. Especially when I can shoot them with suppressors. (That's how I'm justifying it, and I'm sticking to it.)
  23. That's about right.....Like I said, I'm a sucker. Yeah. If I ever decide to get my FFL and SOT, I'm sure I'll feel the same way. But for us mere mortals, this will have to do.....for now! You mean like the Roni? Got one of them too. they do have extended .45 glock mags, 27 rounders. however, it isn't a genuine GLOCK mag. only GLOCK factory mags that I know of comes in 9mm and 40cal. They also make mag extensions that bump the G21 mags to 30 rounds. It's an extension, and a spring.
  24. Well, there is one at my Class III dealer. It's now sitting on the shelf waiting for my Form 4 to get approved.......I'm such a sucker!! LOL.
