  1. Hey Billyjo, I went back and read the reponse on the siderail for the scope----the original siderail and scope mount for the original Dragunovs were DIFFERENT from the standard AK ones and the Scopes were different also,I mean, a centimeter is a 'BIG OFF' not a little off. I believe the difference is due to the dimensional differences in the receiver and top rail vs the std. AK receivers. Not trying to inflame here ,just an observation
  2. Hey Kysoldier,Gaddis,Billjobob ,love the discussions! I have a couple comments on the Romak. While china and Russia/USSR dragunovs were and indeed use a completely different receiver and gas systems vs the AK's the Romainians, and possibly Poland and Bulgaria manufactured their own version of the Drag based on modified RPK receivers due to manufacturing ease and parts availability and available tooling. I have read that while they may not be 'quite as good' as the original, they were a VERY viable option.I believe there was an issue of 'receiver flex' in one or the other but I do not remember w
  3. Hi,well,on my AK's I have used some carb cleaner and sprayed it in the port and let it run out the muzzle, then blew air or turned the can upside down to spray dry it.I have even dipped a pipe cleaner-made out of stuff that is not eaten by the gas- and managed to get it in there and scrub it.Worst case-get a paper clip and try to poke it in there. I cannot verify if the port is chromed or not so be careful. Realistically, look down the barrel of your rifle and see the size of the hole, the ones on my rifles are pretty damn big! Another thing you can do,try pouring bore cleaner down the barrel whi
  4. Morning! Hey Bigfoot, IF you are interested in one just check the shotgun news -look for J&G imports,Joeken Firearms, and a couple others ,they should have them in their ads or on their websites. I bought it because 1. F^%$in Liberals outlawed alll my fun firearms and 2. I HAD to have one to see how they did it-I am a tinkerer and nosy-I have to see how things are done when something peaks my interest. It actually shoots pretty good but the sights on mine are way off on the front adj. They are peened so atleast there was an effort to sight it in,but it seems to be close. It comes with a sid
  5. Hi all alright I have to get in on this, here is a pic of my AK noise makers- 1. as it should be and 1 PUMP ACTION AK-what is amazing is that it uses a stock recoil spring but it WILL NOT cycle since it has no hole in the barrel.Know how they did it? they milled a slot in the piston, put in a little pivoting thingy and attached a sliding grip-you can see the forearm. They also removed the cocking handle on the carrier. It would be a simple thing to change back to semi-just get a bolt carrier, drill the barrel hole, and install a std gas tube,BUT that would be illegal in Commiefornia. I wonder if it
  6. Alright all you Saiga .223 guys,I just looked in the new shotgun news and saw an ad for 'Joeken Firearms' that showed a modified AK 74 mag that is listed as having a modified follower and modified feedlips so as to work with both .223 and 5.45 ammo and I THINK it said will work in the Saigas and SAR3/AK223 variants. The BEST part---- ON SALE FOR $4.95 or 5.95 each! I guess I will not try to sell my 7 WEIGER .223 mags now! Iam going to see if I can find out the mods and mod my mags,I have 18 AK 74 5.45 mags and no gun-yet- to use them in.If I get my .223 conversion done I will have plenty
  7. Hey ,here is a pic of a Baikal IZH81 shotgun that I am thinking of buying from a guy in NM. It will come with 3 different stock options and 4 5rd clips. any one know or hear of experiences with this shotgun? I think EAA used to sell them but this version is rare as hen's teeth as far as I can tell. BUT at least I can get it shipped to my local FFL, it is russian and it has a clip,I still wish it was a Saiga-oh well. I will take a pic of my noise makers and do a post or 2. Please give me any feedback on this gun. Bye the way-cost is 325.00 plus shipping etc. Guy says he has 450+ in it.
  8. The Saiga is banned for 2 reasons- 1. It has the dreaded 'preferred by gang members' AK action(banned in itself-but I can buy pump action AK's and they can be converted to semi-I did not say that!) and 2. Any semi auto shotgun that uses a detachable mag is banned. Pumps are ok with 8round tubes, folding stocks, etc unless it is -folding stock ok but not folding stock AND 8 round tube-I need to recheck. IF I could get a Saiga I would -shudder- change it to a pump(not hard to do) and when I move somewhere else, change it back. Here is the rub- technically I COULD register a Saiga here because the
  9. So I am NOT the only guy who uses his bed as a "weapons layout platform"! Honestly nice shotgun and other items! Well I guess a pic of my Benelli has to be made now!
  10. Here is the second one for sh**s and giggles batfinnacuracy.htm
  11. Hey Guys ,I have been reading your posts and have 1 or 2 files regarding institutionalized pergury with in the ATF- 1 is from a 1995 roll call and the other one is from somewhere else -I will attach them here so you guys can read them-kind of scary that the screwballs have the power they do! I can even dig up stories of a weapon that is ok,registered ,sold ,etc AND THEN later it is declared illegal, contraband, etc, guy thrown in the klink, and it is the same weapon being transfered at a later date to a neww owner!? Now granted this was a Class 3 but it can affect a 'normal' weapon also. I alway
  12. Yea I wish it was that easy! I f I could I would! Buying a rifle out of your 'home' state is illegal also-but I am going to at least get some property and small cabin SOMEWHERE in another 'friendly' state. Then I should be able to buy more of what I want.
  13. I just saw one on gunbroker.com- it is supposed to be an authentic 'bring back' from a vet's estate-it is a sniper-DDRROOLLL!!! in exc. cond all matching! The price was at $2900- if you want one in decent shape expect to pay AT LEAST $1000. I had one and sold it because the #s did not match and it needed a couple small minor parts-STUPID ME!!!!!! I will find one eventually-just need to time the whole have money/one is available thing-better luck on finding Jimmy Hoffa at this point! They are crudely made in some respects but it is a must have. I think it has 2 days left on the auction-punch i
  14. Hey guys, I really like both rifles. The VZ24 was picked over another rifle due to the wood alone, the other rifle wwas also a mauser that was more original-this one has been refinished at some time and almost seems like it was a ceremonial rifle at one time,it also had the crest ground off the top of the receiver-but I WANTED THAT WOOD!!,I later saw a longer rifle-a YUGO I think- and it had the same wood!,I went back in the afternoon and it was sold-DAMMIT!! I am still after a good ORIGINAL 98K for my collection, along with a G43 semi auto($$$ those are getting!). Regarding the Moisin,I like th
  15. Here is pic of M47-how do you put more than 1 pic on the forum!?
  16. Hi All,I was reading about your C&R rifle interest and figured I should post a couple pics of my old rifles. The 1st one is my Czech VZ24 Mauser with a neat stock that has some tiger striping and a WW1 20 round trench mag attached-you should see some of the looks at the range! The second is my Russian M47 rifle with a spike bayonet-this thing cost me $80 at the time and was NEW! I can hit a 1 foot square plate better than 90% at 200 yards benched or offhand with the sights set as they were when bought,if I miss it is my fault. The steel butt plates are not comfortable fo shooting from th
  17. Hi all, hope all is as well as can be expected with everyone.I read about the HK PSG1 comment. I believe they were basically banned for 'us' to buy when the HK91,93,Valmets,SIGS,FNC's ,etc were all banned. Last REAL PSG1 I saw was in DEC. at the Small Arms Review building at the HUGE Phoenix gun show-and I quote "I got any ting you want" that show is awsome, you could get basically what your heart desires. I will say that if they plan on doing any kind of mass gun grab and we are on our toes....GGOOODD LLUCK!!! I saw enough firepower there to take on any size terrorist or other group of a@@@ h
  18. Hi Chip, I cannot see banning a Remington 7400,742 or the pump 7600(?),Browning BAR, Mini 14,M1carbine,,etc. That is what seems so insidious about this proposal,it targets ALL semi autos, pumps, maybe lever actions, anything that can even remotely rapid fire but does not mention multiple round carrying bolt actions-they cannot go and piss off all the 'legitimate hunting people/firearms owners',only the 'evil ones'. Same for shotguns-I would personally find it much easier to have and load/unload a clip fed shotgun(if I had one!),than my 11/87 or my Benelli Nova tactical-tube magazines are a pain
  19. Yea I have a M44 carbine and love it,I can hit a 1 foot square plate at 200 yards offhand with the iron sights(set as it came) about 95% of the time, also have a Czech VZ24 with a tigerwood grain original stock and a 20 round trench mag attached-it gets the looks! i also have an Austrian M95 in 8x56r,odd caliber,no bullets to reload -.311 dia. The shell cases have the NAZI eagle and swastika on the rim and are dated 1938. Gave me the WORST bruise!! the old rifles are great and cheap.
  20. Hi all, I am back with a couple things that make you go 'hhmmmm'.. I was in the local Turner's Outdoorsman over here and was talking to the gun guys. i found out that they can no longer sell Browning BAR hunting rifles because they come with a sort of adjustable muzzlebrake on them and the barrel is threaded, even though they only hold 4-5 rounds in the magazine. On the other hand,M1A's are still sold even thouugh the barrel(?) is threaded to accept the front site/muzzlebrake assembly. the reason i mention this is because they will both be considered 'assault weapons' under the proposed additio
  21. Sorry! I obviously need more coffee,my typing is rotten AND I used the wrong words-accept the following corrections- site(not sight), 'thanks for all the responses to my posts', and any other grammar errors I have made.
  22. Hello all, love the sight, and thanks for not responses to my posts. I commented on the patriot act and such on the topic in the 'saiga 7.62 forum, but figured I had to list this hear. I have attached the new federal AWB additions that will affect all long gun owners in one form or another. And due to the legal speak in it it opens doors for everyone to be popped on some violation(!?!?) PLEASE LOOK at it and readit, pass it your friends. This is like the California bans and worse,I know Feinstein,Boxer, and every other anti gunner in the Senate/House of Rep. is behind this.I may have a list-see if y
  23. Hi all .This should probably be continued under the general firearms forum but... The 'PATRIOT" Act,I agree is a total misnomer(I could beat the crap out of whoever came up with the acronym)- It allows the government to snoop on us without search warrants, forces Librarians and libraries to turn over all the info on what you or anybody checks out of the library to the Feds and the library employee who is unfortunate enough to be dragged into this situation,is put under a gag order, under penalty of IMPRISONMENT, not to tell their supervisor, police,"you"(person about to be rail roaded),any entity
  24. I agree, the name says it all, there comes a time when the gene pool needs to be cleaned of the fungus. Even though it is this person's right to speak his//her mind,FIRST you have to START the mind BEFORE running the mouth!
  25. :eek:There I go with thinking too complicated! Why didn't I think of that, great point and what a great 'guide' gun it could make, and,IF it could be done,re register(?) it as a rifle and you could put a pistol grip and stock, install a rifled barrel(obviously)plus shorten the barrel to 16 1/2 inches. COULD you do this conversion and just use it? Would you get busted if you did do it? What legal issues would there be IF it was converted to a 45-70 and you put a shorter barrel and pistolgrip and stock on it,is it still a SBS? What about if the barrel is still 18" and the original stock is re
