  1. I read recently that CSS gives a 10% discount to Forum members. How do I get it.
  2. Now that is an interesting idea!
  3. I would like to have seen the answer to this question. I have the same concern.
  4. I thought I was all ready to convert and understood everything. I am planning to use CSS conversion kit #1. I thought it was just install these parts and voila. Now I keep reading the hammer needs to be profiled or I might end up with cycling problems. I have no idea what this means. Can I send the hammer some place and have it done by somebody that knows what he's doing? I am planning, in addition to the #1 kit to order the access pin lock plate, re-worked BHO lever and possibly the JTE performance hammer spring. They refer to a "Modified trigger group and hammer", but it still needs to be pr

  6. Took 'em down! Those pins didn't have a chance against Ivan.
  7. Who's your supplier, J.C. Whitney?
  8. Wow, I was about to convert, but after reading these posts I might just leave it alone. I had FTEs when I first got the new gun. I did a lot of work and now she runs great. I took the gas block apart, verified the holes were clear and the right size(they were), relieved the hole around the holes so they were unshrouded(they were). I had Pauly glass block polish my bolt. Added a performance puck and a Tac 47 Auto Plug. Like I said, she runs perfectly now and I'd hate to have to start over.
  9. Thanks guys. I always wear eye protection.
  10. They don't use slugs at the event I go to. They specify #4 lead shot. I can't imagine what slugs would do to pins.
  11. Taking my Saiga 12 to the gun club this Sunday to kill some bowling pins. Did this once before and it's a hoot. I was having a little cycling the 3" shells I bought, but I have those problems worked out and she runs like a Russian Bear. Can't wait to introduce them to "Ivan The Terrible".
  12. Rats! Foiled again. Thanks!
  13. So...where does this Saigadd character live? He can't get away with this! :/ Some people believe that if they make the firearms laws bad enough people will revolt or something.. However what they are doing is just making the laws harder for everyone to deal with, and driving the cost of firearms ownership up higher and higher. Sadly there is no way to stop people from doing things to make firearms ownership look bad. Maybe this is their objective.
  14. Are you referring to the pistol grip? ]I am planning to use a Hogue pistol grip when I do convert.
  15. Gotcha. I was ready to "pull the trigger" on conversion parts, but then I found out wife's car needs brakes. Guess that's a little more important than my shotgun goodies. It will still get done, just gets pushed off a bit.
  16. If by "worth it" you mean giving you more reliability, then no. But if you mean being happier with your gun because it has more tricked-out parts, then yes. Well, the description said the hammer spring improves the trigger pull. Not sure about that one, but the guide rod does make sense to me.
  17. When I convert, is it worth including the JTE performance hammer spring? I'm also considering the performance guide rod.
  18. Understood. too many variables.
  19. Is there some down side to the performance hammer spring? I was considering it only because CSS says it improves trigger pull. Gun is fairly new so I doubt the stock spring is weak. The gun runs great now. I was just thinking of doing it all at one time rather than coming back at a later time and replacing the spring. I've already been down the road with the gas ports and now it runs great, pretty much anything I feed it. thanks.
  20. I have watch several of the conversion videos over and over. I think I could do it now with my eyes closed (kidding obviously). I' m going to do it with kit #1 from Carolina Shooters Supply as soon as I can decide how to pay for it. I also want to add the axis pin retaining plate, modified BHO lever and the performance hammer spring. I think I would also like to change the forearm but haven't picked one out. Not wild about the aluminum ones with the holes in them. I'll get there eventually.

    Saiga Recoil!

Does a recoil pad affect the cycling of a Saiga 12?
  22. OK. Thanks everybody. I'm not going to bother you guys any more. I just won't do anything. I'll just wait until I am ready to convert this Russian bitch. I can just use my AGP mag until then and I'll be legal. After all, 922r is brought to us by the same geniuses that came up with Obama Care.I do appreciate the guidance.
