  1. Okay, I went to the range yesterday to do a function test with live ammo on the two [2] Tapco Galil magazines I had purchased previously. I probably ran about 30 rounds through each of the magazines (loading 5 at a time). Both magazines functioned fine. No problems at all. I mostly did rapid fire to send the bullets downrange. Emptied one magazine and loaded another. Conclusion: I would recommend these magazines to those who own the Saiga .223. It seems to meet the requirements as other magazines do but with less cost.
  2. I would have to concur with "Protected Static"s assessment of the Tapco Galil magazines. I, too, thought that if the polymer Galil magazines worked in my Saiga, then possibly the Tapco versions would, so I purchased a couple. They do fit nicely into the magazine well, with some play on the side-to-side motion. I don't think this will prohibit the function or reliability of operating. I have two .223 Saigas, one with a K-Var bullet guide and the other with Dinzag's. The Tapco magazines fit into both. I also did a function test on both rifles (with these magazines)and both fed completely
  3. Not to get off-subject here but that is not Keira Knightley. She was never in "Transporter 2". I believe the actress in question is Kate Nauta. IMDB is your friend...
  4. Or go with what Daewoo came out with on their K-2 (Max-2) rifle. It had an adjustable gas regulator (like the FAL), gas piston (like the AK), used AR magazines and had a side-folding stock. They were quite accurate and reliable! The only drawback was the 180 degree turn on the safety.
  5. It's a shame that Saiga does not come out with a rifle (either the Series 100 or AK styles) chambered for 7.62x54R. I think, with all of the cheap surplus ammo out there, that it would sell very quickly. I would get one. Even if the magazine only could contain 8 or 10 rounds, I would still get one. (I did with the .308)
  6. Both the 7.62x39 and the .223 versions will take "standard" AK mags after some modification to the rifle(s). (I'm assuming that a bullet guide has already been installed.) For the 7.62x39, I grounded down the magazine release so that the regular AK mags will fit. For the .223, the plastic Galil magazines worked without any mods done to the rifle. For the Bulgarian polymer mags, I had to grind the back of the magazine opening on the receiver. They fit like a glove now.
  7. Okay...would someone explain to me that when I fire my Saiga .223 (and .308), any and all bystanders feel that it is much louder than any of my other rifles? For comparison, I fired my AR w/ 16" barrel against my Saiga .223 (also w/ 16" barrel); same ammo. Others came by asking me what I was shooting? They couldn't believe it was a .223! Just wondering....
