  1. Anyone know what this is? http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336161
  2. Sort of...I know , just do the pistol grip, I have converted two, yes they are great. Anyone know a source for the adaptor on the lower SKS? I know you can swap out Magazine parts for 922r. I have a Tapco standard AK stock, Galil handguard and a US Trigger. If I add a US gas piston I am good to go. I just want to find a way to do a quick and easy 922r conversion within reason on cost without US magazine parts. I know it will work on a straight stock as I used one years ago on a 93 Mauser for my brother.
  3. Likely been asked many times but how does a Yugo SKS that is a C&R and can't be modified in any way without 922r problems get modified and sold in California?
  4. Saiga 223 NEW converted Saiga 16" 223, AK triggerguard installed with rivets, 922r parts are US pistol Grip, US Tapco butt stock, and US Hammer, disconector and trigger, holes filled in with plugs, bolt hold shortened 1/8" and retained, Dinzag bullet guide. One factory magazine adjusted to fit with guide. $375 FTF DFW TX , shipping $20 CONUS from non-FFL or trade LOCAL for $100 and new stock Saiga 7.62x39 16"
  5. Caution, dead horse beating ahead about using AK magazines... The Saiga has to have the 922r parts to use 5 rounds AK magazines just like 30's. Don't mix the Clinton ban up with 922r. The ruling in 1998 on "sporting purpose" regarding magazines has two parts 1)you can't have more than 10 round magazines 2)you can't have the CAPACITY TO ACCEPT "military" magazines. That is why there are Saiga magazines in the first place and not 5-10 round AK magazines with the Saiga. That is why there are single stack 10 round Romys . If you modify the latch you need to keep going to 1
  6. OK, can of worms.....922r also says you can't make it "capable of" using AK or other military magazines. As I read it, even a 1 round magazine for an AK is not legal. That is why they have a Saiga magazine and there is, as far as I can see, no "Saiga" legal magazine over 10 rounds without conversion.
  7. If you do ANYTHING to the Saiga that allows it to use a standard AK magazine you are in violation of 922r as your Saiga would now have the "ability to accept" standard AK magazines. 1 round or 100 round AK magazine s are just as illigal under 922r without 10 or less imported parts. Two issues apply without converting: Can't have more than 10 round SAIGA magazines Can't have your Saiga work with ANY AK magazine
  8. Yes , buy all the hicaps you want, just dont use them in a Saiga without US parts. And if you think this is not the law "I never hear of anyone caught on 922r" please let us know how you make out with the ATF.
  9. They need a 922r sticky, everyone is looking at this. My comments are on what I found to be legal and just my opinion, I can give you a lot of reason why they are not logical but we are talking legal. Adding bullet guild without less than 10 imported parts makes it a Saiga modificated to allow use of AK magazines. Not legal on imports. The Saiga high capacity magazines are not legal without conversion to 10 or less US parts. I had to have it beat into me but the 1994-2004 AWB is not over on imports. Magazine use is two issues, capacity and type. Any +10 round magazine is the s
  10. Two issues on magazines (1) Capacity and (2) Type. To quote me: you still have to meet the law (922r) regarding capability to accept "large capacity military magazine(AK-47) magazine" Capable of is the issue not the size you are using. If I can snap a standard AK magazine in and it works, could be a one round or a hundred round, if it works I no longer have a sporting semiautomatic and I fail the import ban.
  11. Afer beating my head and finding 10 reasons why this can't be right ...you can't alter the Saiga under 922r unless you go to US made. To quote another member: "Adding bullet guild without reducing enough foreign control parts = illegal modification. No company dares to sell illegally modified AKs. Legally its no different than drilling out a third axis hole on an ak for a full auto conversion. A felony is a felony. Im against all the stupid gun laws, but I will not be ignorant to what I know about them"
  12. Having beat this to death in 3 threads, you would need to show me where this is legal under 922r. Not the ban. My head hurts, I can "prove" it is wrong but they are not legal. No +10 as imported. 922r is out of date but is the law. If they are US made, just stick in another US part like a hammer and use them.
  13. Yes, use your imported Saiga as is or make it into a "US made" rifle. Anything else and you may be right but you won't be legal.
  14. don't poke the sleeping bear ...I know. It's the 1998 opinion not the 1994 ban stupid ...I know...Finally, it must be emphasized that the semiautomatic assault weapon ban of section 922(v) is distinct from the sporting purposes test governing imports of section 925(d)(3). Clearly, any weapon banned under section 922(v) cannot be imported into the United States because its possession in the United States would be illegal. If you want to us AK mags in unconverted Saiga go away it is not legal, not talking about that. Using a 30 round Saga Magazine is also not legal as defined by the 1
