  1. I don't have any way to harden the alum like those probably are. I'm looking into away to add the feed lips off of an AGP mag and then hard anodize the rest of the mag. But even if I get them machined and hard anodized I don't think that the tabs that hold the mags in will last long enough to keep any buyers happy. Its surprising how wear resistance plastic can be. I'm going to keep looking I'm not giving up.
  2. What if you can't weld?? Could you put a couple/few together for me??? Yes. Just trying to get everything perfect and figured out.
  3. Got some video of my fat ass shooting my steel and alum mags on you tube. I think that because of the wear on the alum feed lips I got a misfeed on the last round.
  4. Have you fired polymer-framed weapons before? Less weight = more felt recoil. Glocks are very light. Alas, if I remember correctly tritium has a half-life of about 12 years. If your eyes are adjusted to the dark, the sights may be more useful. Try hanging out in a dark room or outside for about twenty minutes, then sight down the weapon and see if the sights are effective for you. I've also have a XD. I think that the spring is to weak and the slide was bottoming out on the frame. When I was driving away my hands tingled slightly. I went to Gander mountain and got a replac
  5. How soft is the spring on this thing supposed to be? It just seems light. I cleaned it up and if the guy told me that someone shot 2000 rounds though it with out cleaning it, I would believe them. I then went and shot it and it seemed like a lot of recoil. So I started to look at it closer but I don't have any experience with glocks. Its a first gen with a non captured spring. The night sites only faintly glow. Guess that will be on the to do list.
  6. Ya the transfer was $25 + tax and then $13 for the back ground check. On a good note I went to CDNN and bought some mags. They are offering the 2 shot extensions for free when you buy regular size mags and they had the lowest prices I could find!
  7. Transfer fee and back ground check = $39.38 10.5% That brings the total to $412.28.
  8. Corbin The surefire rebuild kits would work for the 8 and 12. But I used the surefire rebuild kits for the 15 rounder and was having feeding problems. I put the AGP spring in and it fixed the problems. I checked the surefire spring against the AGP spring and it is 4 inches shorter when they are out of the mag. I see that AGP has a new base plate that slides on, I'm thinking that it would work with minimum mods to the mag. I need to call R&R targets yet and see if I could get a surefire kit with their 20 round mag spring.
  9. Well got a price for the steel mags. Price does not include anything but the mag body unwelded. I can't get the springs any cheaper then anyone else unless a lot of people would like one and I could buy in bulk. Capacities are 8, 12, or 15. $20 plus shipping.
  10. Like Bvamp said I kind of like it. It breaks it up subduely. If that is a word. So how did you do it?
  11. Thanks for your insight guys. Nailbomb I was thinking that the market (if there is one) will just kind of find me. I'm figuring that it would be competition people or people that just want to blast. I've also got something else in mind for the comp guys but it will be awhile and I don't want to give anyone ideas and have them beat me to the punch. I don't know if it will work but if it does it will be awesome. Lets be realistic this is going to be nowhere as good as Cameron's steel mag when he gets it out there. The biggest thing that this has going for it is that it is 15 rounds. I
  12. I can make some with the big slots in them since they are already in one of the programs.
  13. I don't know if you can see it in the pictures. ETA Click on the picture man does that blow up!
  14. Nail bomb I started to do this for me to shoot 3 gun with and I thought that I would share pics with everyone and see what they thought. My Dad said to me "if you keep it up you'll have a 1000 hours in that thing". I just told him that its good that I don't have to pay myself. Some people showed an interest in them so I thought that I would help them out. Market? I don't have have one in mind. Just somebody that thinks they could use one. It wouldn't be hard for me to change the capacity. What size?
  15. uzitiger (and everybody else) thanks for the complaints. I didn't weld the alum mag but I did weld the steel one. I had the guy that does our alum oil pans at work do it for me, I haven't learned how to yet. I'll try to get a video tomorrow but its fucking cold here and I've got my son this weekend. Updates: Alum mag: there is just way to much wear from the shells getting stripped I'm going to have to get it hard anodized to see if that would make it last more then 200 rounds. I hand cycled 15 and shot 30 and there is noticeable wear on the "mag lips". Gibbles called that one
  16. How did I do? http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=155336817 Note to self don't look at gunbroker at 2:30 in the morning with 10 beers in you. I bought my first grenade.
  17. So I got the aluminum mag done. Steel mag weighted 1.75# Alum mag .675# I shot 2 full mags and on the first I had one low miss feed and then 1 high miss feed. This were the rounds that I had hand cycled and they had a little buggers on the front. Loaded the second mag with fresh rounds and no problems. I'm using a surefire base plate but I'm not happy right now on how its staying on. I've got to do a little tweaking.
  18. Thanks. Of course I just ordered there for work last week. I guess I will have some extras.
  19. Gibbles do you know how to give it a heat treatment? I am worried about it wearing in after awhile I'm not worried about the strength of it. We use this thickness of alum for louver trays on the inside of our oil pans with out them breaking.
  20. I'd rather have first shot at a double stack mag. S12 that will never happen. Just saying. Kris that doesn't sound like that bad of an idea, although it would probably be impossible to do. But if their is a prebuy again I would want to be on it, again.
