  1. I am fine with this type of propaganda because from an economic stand point more people joining the 7.62x39 club means this ammo type becomes more expensive. The price of the ammo is supported by demand. If more people join the 5.56/.223 or 5.45 club rather than the 7.62x39 club, 7.62x39 does not experience as much buyer demand as it would if there are several thousand new shooters looking to buy bulk 7.62x39 and the market forces the price upward from the new money chasing the product. Maybe it is selfish on my part but why would I care to argue towards a higher ammo price when so many peo
  2. I got a tapco saiga handguard. I am looking to trade for a saiga factory 7.62x39 gas tube and 1 factory handguard. Sold pending funds
  3. Please tell me where these holes are that folks keep talking about that need drilling. . The trunnion bullet guide hole. On the rest, removing the rivots will work fine. If you use US made Saiga-specific magazine, that hole doesn't NEED to be drilled. Besides "holes" is plural. To get to the point, you guys with your drills are very likely working too hard (and making more work for yourselves). Lol The POS US made junk mags require me to depend on drilling a trunnion for a proper bullet guide in order to use the better surplus mags. To me this is a case of need as in
  4. The 100 series handguards are secured at the front by the curved lip so that the handguard does not directly touch the barrel. If your retainer does not have the curved lip, the heat shield becomes what the curved lip is suppose to be by pressing against the barrel and not allowing the handguard to move upward. On the old style traditional handguards, the handguard itself would press against the barrel and any pressure differences from pressing closer to the front versus the rear of the handguard would manifest in multiple pressure points on the barrel which alter the barrel harmonics when

  6. I remember you earlier making a comment about the Tapco stock being for the AK-47 and Saigas using AK-74 furniture. When I compared the original stock to the Tapco stock, I found you were right. When in the receiver, you could see that the Tapco stock did not butt the trunnion. I decided to fit a shim that filled the gap between the butt stock and the rear trunnion. Now my Tapco stock does indeed rest against the trunnion. I don't how much stronger it is, but thanks for the earlier heads up. You would think Tapco would have become aware of this and offered a shim included just like t
  7. I meant you have a good group there. That was good steady aim and decent enough ammo. Just curious, was the top hole your third shot? Consistent barrel temperature is a factor and checking it like you did was good. A 50 degree F difference might string out each consecutive shot a bit higher with a wider bullet spiral revolution through the air and considering that the gas behind a rifle bullet is easily over 2000 F flash point several rapid shots heat the bore pretty quickly on any rifle.
  8. The same can be said about the tapco fixed stock not correctly fitting a saiga because it is shorter than normal and the receiver lip bares the blunt force rather than the rear trunnion step as designed. Sure people use the tapco stock anyway but its unsupported and not ideal.
  9. The 100 series retainers have a curved upper lip to retain the prongs like the kvar handguard uses. The curved lip is an accuracy enhancement because it keeps the handguard from pressing against the barrel directly. The bolt on retainers have no curved lip. This means the heat shield contacts the barrel to prevent the handguard from rising when pressed upon. The heat shield becomes a heat sink and vibrates off the barrel when fired. This only complicates the barrel harmonics making accuracy worse. The new style handguards actually fit the old style retainers like the bolt on ones but its
  10. What handguard do you want to use? The bolt on retainers only properly work with the old style handguards and not the ones with heat shields. Depending on the type of handguard you want to use, will answer your question.
  11. Vertical stringing happens as a result of heat build up. The easy fix is space your shots more or use a thicker barrel that acts as a better heat sink. Unfortunately, saigas are not offered with a 1 inch bull barrel, at least not yet anyways.
  12. I shot 5 shots of Double Tap Vmax into 1.5 inches center to center out of a 7.62x39 saiga At 100 yards. My Vepr of the same caliber was closer to 1 inch. When I see many individual results like yours, I tend to think that the inaccuracy myths result from inaccurate ammo rather than the platform itself. I seen bolt action and single shot rifles disperse Wolf .223 ammo at 100 yards into 3 to 5 inch groups. The same rifles will shoot sub-MOA with better ammo. Not all ammo is equal quality but most probably will not believe this until they come to that revelation.
  13. Is there steel in the feed lips, front and rear lugs, or along the front spine? not sure but I would say no..I got them because they are 30 rounders with the Izzy logo I understand the collectability completely. I am just trying to figure out if these are the same commercial ones sold back in 2004 through EAA. I think those were $30 a piece. The 12 gauge 8 rounders I can't remember if they had steel feedlips or steel lugs.

  15. I wasn't refering to you as some yahoo, but rather that its all to often that bad apple to mango comparisons arise. Wolf black box might be commonly available ammo but its no less the worst. It patterns 3 times wider than the most accurate domestic commercial load I have shot in the same guns. It's bad ammo from an accuracy perspective.
  16. Yes AR15, FAL, and AK rifles in that same situation. Unrested shooting the worst inconsistent inaccurate ammo on the planet (Wolf) is going to produce not so optimal results. The original post was about inherent accuracy which forces out shooter error, using garbage ammo to define the gun's potential, improperly resting the gun, improper trigger technique, and rapid fire. The joke is when some yahoo loads up some wolf ammo into a saiga shooting it unbenched and yanks the trigger on each trigger pull and declares his open sights unsupported AK does not shoot as well as his friend's match gr
  17. When its benched with a 30 power scope, its not necessarily the shooter ability.
  18. None of my Russian 7.62x39 rifles disperse groups larger than 2 MOA with American made brass cased ammo. Russian steel cased ammo usually seems to shoot a wider group size than domestic.

  20. Offer withdrawnNo offers so I guess no one is interested. The parts are new/unissued. I may consider parts trades for AK74 parts just let me know via pm what you got to trade.
  21. A stepped chamber marks the cases and complicates reloading. An unstepped chamber prevents the cartridge neck from over stretching in that specific area. The dimples are a structural reinforcement of the magazine well similar to external ribbing on the magazines. The barrel side notches support a modern style handguard retainer and attempt to prevent rotatiing of the handguard. A threaded muzzle allows for attaching of muzzle brakes/compensators, flash suppressors, and noise suppressors.
  22. The Arsenal company in Las Vegas makes US made Bulgarian replica furniture right there in Las vegas. right from the website http://www.arsenalinc.com/faq.htm Q: Is Arsenal Inc. and Arsenal Co. of Bulgaria the same company? A: Arsenal Inc. of Las Vegas, Nevada is not the same company as Arsenal Co. of Kazanlak, Bulgaria. Arsenal Inc. manufactures their own products and is the exclusive distributor for Arsenal Co. products.
  23. They will not work right in two tapco G2 trigger groups. The disconnector does not press all the way forward. These springs are too short. The disconnector will fail to function. They only seem to work in the Red Star Arms trigger groups.
  24. Here is a fantastic flash suppressor. I can't see any flash. Its easy on the ears too.
