I have a POSP scope and mount foe my 16" 308 and I have a 8x32x50 extra scope that I would like to put on my 22" 308> Would the mount that stradles the reciever and uses the hammer and triger pin be better or would a good side mount be better? I know there is $45 difference in price but that is not a problem if it is better.

I was at my sons this weekend and there range goes out to 350 yds, they had a propaine bottle sitting there for a target 5 gal so I put my POSP 8x42 scope on zeroed it at 200 lifted it up to the bottle and the first shot knocked it over and up the berm. Wow I said I didn't expect to hit it set at 200 so tried again "POP" same thing. Was using pulled 147 g bullets, militarr cases and pulled military ball reloads. Was thinking about getting a 308 bolt gun for accuracy but WHY I ask this will take out anything I am apt to hunt Hogs and mayby WT deer.

I almost went crazy and sold my 16" the other day, but changed my mind I will just save up for what I want.

OK - when you make a statement like this, we need details! Did you use a scope - if so, what kind? What kind of ammo - factory, mulsurp, taylored handloads, match, etc.? Inquiring minds want to know! And thanks a lot guys, now I'm thinking I have to get a 16" carbine and I haven't even received my 22" rifle yet! I used the PSOP 8x42 that you see on the rifle with 147g FMJBT bullets 48g BLC-2 (that is max on the container) would hav been better than 2" but the wind was blowing (what is new about that) at 20-30 mph from left to right and gusty. The scope is easy to set to wind

Get some hard drill bits, the spot welds on the plate you remove is super hard, took out five bits on the four welds.

This I did in 45min the other day.

My local dealer has a few more left yet in his racks. I'd like to go for more 16" barreled 308's. Were did you get the dragunov stock? You can put 10rds in a 2" circle @ 200yds these sure can shoot accurately. I wonder how both the 16" and 22" compare at long distances. The 16" should fall off somewhere around 500yds from what i figure but who knows the way these things are so accurate and i guess this is where the 22" (longer barrel should rule) barreled 308 should be more accurate. I wonder how far the 22" barrel can shoot? The shorter range rear sites don't do these guns justice they

Got one of each the 22 I have made into a Draganaf (spelling) type and haven't convertsd the 16" yet, no they are not for sale. They both keep 10 rds in a 2" circle at 200 yds

Have a 8x42 POSP works fine for me.

I am thinking of converting at least one of my 308 Saiga's and was wondering abou the hammer doesn't it have to be modified? I have no problem with the rest of the conversion as it seems straight forward and I have built some AKM rifles with G2 FCG. I just need to know about the hammer. Thank you in advance.

I am not sure that you are not right about the 2006 or later. I am glad I have two 308's a 16" and a 22". I don't have any other such as 7.62x39 but do not need one as I have one AK I have built and four more kits to finish this winter. Would like to get a 223 and a 12g though.

Here is the reply I got yesterday from them on when they are expecting new Saiga's. RAAC.doc

308 is very adequate for a Black Bear, and anyhow they call it shot placement. I work at a archery shop and we have more than one picture of that size bear that are taken at 12 to 25 yds with a bow. We have one picture of a smalish man who shot a Cape Buffalo at 40 yds one shot went in the chest and went clear through to the rear. Another took a coastal Grizzly with his bow. Said all that to say that a .308 is adequate.

There is a pawn shop that I use to go and see what kind of bargins he had, the owner sold out. When i checked it out the other day he had a wood stock Saiga 308 with a price tag of $1250.95> I was shocked and thought he must be joking, ask and he wasn't. All his guns have jumped by at least $100 over Vlad's prices. I doubt I will be stoping by anytime soon, just wait fot the bankrupcy sale.
-
He will sell it to someone who hasn't a clue, just that he wants an "AK". Know a dealer out of ignorance got a Century M1 Garand put $600 on it and sold it that day and the man just knew he had a piece of history. The same dealer out of pure ignorance about anything milatary bought a M14 for $175 and ask me to come down and tell him if he got screwed.

The dent on mine will not keep me from reloading as they are a scratch up beside my Hakim. Straightens out with resizing.

8x42 won it on a auction on gunbrokers.com for $120 works good as far as I can tell as I have only used it one time before I went to the hospital. The rifle is a 22" model.

Well there has been aprox. 14 weeks this year of which I have spent six of them in the hospital. I had my knee replaced, went home after a week then got an infection then went back into the knee then spent another five weeks in the hospiital taking huge amounts of IV's 170 bags worth. I haven't got to the range yet with the 308 Saiga I bought right before I went to the hospital the first time, don't know if I posted a picture or not but if I did I apolagize.
