    S-20 mags

Maybe a silly excuse to buy another gun but here goes......if you like the 20, buy another one for a spare since they are still available and at a reasonable price, and now you have a total of 4 factory 5 round mags to play with. I have a 20 and a 12 and actually like the 20 a little more since it is quicker to recover from recoil and the loaded mags seat easier with the bolt closed than the 12 ga...just a thought
  7. do a google search for Tantals sight.....very reputable for combloc optics etc.....I ordered and he shipped out a PKAV optic ASAP on a personal check within a day or two. Highly recommended.
  8. Maybe I missed something here.....did you try to shoot the low recoil fed buckshot on the light setting (2)?? I have used the low recoil flight control wad OO fed rounds on the 2 setting and recoil is light, with hulls ejecting with no more force/distance than with the walmart promo stuff. My gun worked just fine on 2, and produced tight patterns.
  9. MAA A+++ Just received my purchase from Mississippi Auto Arms. Excellent price and shipped fast! Very pleased.
  10. I have both the 223 and 762 and have only fired as far as 100 yds with iron sights at clay pigeons on the berm. Both were about the same, can hit with pretty fair regularity if I do my part. At 50 yards from the bench with irons, the 223 was a little more accurate, but that could be due to comparing american eagle or similar ammo vs the wolf or golden tiger ammo in the 762. I would say that both are very close, the 223 has negligable recoil and the 762 has just a tad more. Both ran completely reliable and I like both. Pick whichever one suits you better caliber wise...remember that the ru
  11. got it out again today.....not that it was cold by VT standards, but my shooting buddy's cz75 stopped working due to thick oil slowing down the slide and firing pin.....the saiga chucked out about 60 rds of remington game loads (cheap walmart stuff) on the "2" setting without a hiccup. This is one fun gun......thanks again! gotta get more ammo.
  12. Ran out to the range today.....at setting "1" it was a single shot with the low brass cheap stuff (as expected). I changed mags and let fly with some high brass buckshot.....definitely a high giggle factor. Really neat. Ran through about 15 rounds of high brass buck and about 10 rds of Remington 1 oz sluggers. 100% with the hot stuff. Shot very well with slugs - ragged hole at 25 yards about the size of my fist from the shoulder and about 3 inches at 50 yds from the shooting table (yup, I felt those). It may do a little better when it isn't snowing out (Vermont). Shot just a tad over the
  13. Bought It! Thanks to all for your input. Picked up the saiga 12 today, for $358 out the door with two mags (5 rds). On retrospect I was worrying too much about the peening. After checking my 223 and 7.62 saiga bolt carrier cam cuts, it looks like the wear on the 12 is normal. When I checked the shotgun out again, the rear trunnion (proper nomenclature?) where the recoil spring fits was not damaged or peened from the bolt carrier smacking it so all is well. Will know tomorrow if it is all that folks say it is.....if it is anything like the other saigas I have, I will be happy. By the way
  14. Thanks to all for the replies.....obviously $358 out the door for a stock 12 is a good deal, even being used....since no one really mentioned the Peening issue with the bolt carrier cam slot (for lack of a better term), shall I assume that this is normal and one cannot do serious harm to the mechanism even on the wrong gas setting??? I know you really can't screw up the x39s and 223s, I just don't have the experience with the shotguns. Thanks again.
  15. Hello to all, I'm new to the saiga forum but am a big fan. Use a 223 Saiga for work and have a 7.62x39 for fun. Looking for some advice from those who know better than I. I have located a used RAA 12 with threaded 19 inch barrel, standard stocks, as issued with box and two five rd mags. The gun is in excellent condition externally, but has a small but visible "pean" in the bolt carrier slot/cutout where the bolt rides during locking/unlocking. It definitely has been shot as carbon and residue is visible. I expect the peaning is no big deal and is probably one of those things where it peans
