  1. FEDERAL LAW: 1) Guns are measured STOCK OPEN, regardless of weather it may be fired with the stock closed or not. 2) 18"/26" BBL/OAL for Shotguns, again STOCK OPEN (#1) 3) Measurement of the barrel is made from the bolt-face/chamber to the muzzle, with the bolt closed. Basically, stick a rod down the barrel untill it strikes something, mark it, and measure the rod... STATE laws may be different, at least ONE state (Michigan) measures folding stock weapons with the stock CLOSED for purposes of determining compliance with STATE weapon-length laws...
  2. That is a pre-September permit The 5 round limit expired 9/13/04, along with the rules preventing conversion.
  3. Actually, there is no for-sure known fact that 8rd mags would make the gun non-sporting... 'Ability to accept Large Capacity Military Magazines' became a feature of the import ban in 1998, however 'Large Capacity' was defined as over 10 rounds, not 5. The 5 round limit was part of the 1994 Crime Bill ban (the one that has sunset), and had no bearing on the sporting-purposes ban... EAA may be legitimately worried about the ATF declaring the Saiga a non-sporting shotgun & making it not just unimportable, but NFA... However, there are no legal ramifications to using an 8rd mag
  4. The 'magic number' is 10 foreign parts.... Adding US parts never creates a problem, so long as there are 10 or less foreign parts on the gun...
  5. The NFA says a 'Single FUNCTION of the trigger'... Pulling is one function. Releasing is a second function. As long as it only fires one round each time the trigger moves, it's OK.
  6. US Gun laws: NFA: SBS, SBR, MG, DD are all $200 tax for transfer and making. AOW is $200 tax to MAKE, $5 to transfer Pistols are considerd 'pistols', not short rifles, unless they have a stock or shoot shotgun shells. A shotgun pistol under 18" is an 'AOW', and a normal pistol with a stock attached and a bbl under 16" is a SBR... AWB: Dead, gone, kaput. It used to be that we couldn't have a semiauto shotgun with a pistok grip and any of the following: folding stock, detatchable mag, more than 5rds capacity. Well, untill today anyway. 1968 Gun Control Act This establ
  7. Sounds like they're refusing to bring them in due to concerns that the ATF might make the Saiga a DD....
