What are magwell dimples and what do they look like?

Recommended Posts

I am learning but some things still puzzle me.

What is a magwell dimple, why do people want them and what do they look like?

it's a rectangular indent about .75x1.5" on each side of where the magazine inserts into the receiver. newer saiga 7.62x39's have them, older ones do not.

it just means your gun is closer to the military AK if you have them. it may also work a little better with military style mags (after you get a bullet guide of course)

skyugo,

Thank you very much for the answer.

Well, I know now for sure that my 7.62 is an older one, but I got it for $100 less and it was NEW, so I think I am okay that it doesn't have dimples.

Since I don't have dimples on the receiver will I not need to install a bullet guide if I want to shoot AK mags or ?
