Bvamp 604
thats what i said.... ?????????????????? I will probably have to go ask the cops to translate this garbage for me, because I read that as its ok to modify the saiga12 because of part E, section iii saying that that overrides part D. confusing as all hell. or am i just looking at it wrong? Bvamp 604
vjor: good points...what i see it as, is if i DO clip an 8 round mag to it, THEN its an assault weapon, and NOT BEFORE. i have to definately check into this. and you think that is bad? you should read the rest of my state's gun laws. check this out vjor: http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?cl=82&a=

Bigfoot Wallace 0
BVAMP move to Texas!!! One of the things a governor candidate has to do to get votes is to go on a dove hunt with the press following!!! It is a tradition. W shot a kildeer and got elected anyway! Bvamp 604
I would move to texas just to be legally able to shoot people on my property in the dark, and not get sued like i would here. How much is property near the mexican border there? and is there anywhere it doesnt hail or have tornadoes, anywhere outside of the citites where there are woods (I need my trees grass and streams you know), and anywhere you can drink the water out of your own well? as for what you are saying vjor, as of right now, my saiga12 is NY legal. what i want to know is if that dribble of a law just told me that if i dont put a mag in it over 5 rounds, i can pistol grip it. I plan to get an answer in writing from local law enforcement sometime soon on this.
Siagalova 0
My buddy shot a couple people with his shotgun that were trying to attack him in his house. he didn't get into any trouble - -I was surprised as hell! it was very clear that these guys were armed and his wife was in the closet on the phone with the police, as it was happening. but nobody sued. nobody but the purp's went to jail! a success story, the only one I know of - besides reading in the paper. Bvamp 604
you arent in New York. even if its a justified shooting, the next of kin or dependants can lay a civil suit on me here. It is the judge's call what to do with me if i ever have to shoot someone in self-defense, so that translates to the cops holding me and seizing all my weapons until his honor decides what he wants to do with me. then I have to go through an ordeal to get the guns returned. bull aint it? Bigfoot Wallace 0
In Texas people shoot the repo man(not too nice the repo man was a friend of my uncle) and don't go to jail. East texas is full of trees and streams and clean well water! Land on the border near del rio can be less than 100 dollars an acre. Saw 50,000 acres going for 14 dollars an acre. it is all desert though Edited September 16, 2004 by Bigfoot Wallace
Bvamp 604
all I know is, the segment of the definition of an assault weapon in my state, is looking like it is saying that as long as i do not clip an 8 round magazine into my saiga12, that I can pistol grip it. emr454 1
Bvamp: I'm sorry to hear that you live in New York...so do I. I really don't understand most of those laws and I don't think the people that made them do either. What I want to know is.... If I put the correct number(5) US made parts into my Saiga, Would I be able to put a collapsible AR 15 stock on my gun or would I need to raise the US made parts count, or would it be totally illegal? I wish they didn't make things so complicated!
Bvamp 604
you cannot use a collapsable stock. you have to pin it in NY still. If you pin it (felony D if you dont in new york state), you can put it on any gun, including your saiga. what im wondering myself, is that last part of the definitions to assault weapon. (e) provided, however, that such term does not include: (i) ... ...(iii) a semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine; I asked my shop owner here about that clause, and HE says (he knows wtf he is actually talking about, btw) that it would sure seem like as long as you dont put an 8 rounder into a saiga12, that you can put a pistol grip on it. whereabouts are you in ny? what county? dontmesswithmygun 0
according to the expired AWB if a rifle had more than 2 of the "evil" features it was considered an assualt weapon the fact that a gun could accept a high capacity mag was one of those features whether you used one in it or not that is why you could buy an AR or AK with a pistol grip but no flash hider, folding stock or bayonet lug another example is my springfield m1a1 it could accept a 20 round mag and it had a flashhider but the bayonet lug that was on pre-ban m1a1 flash hider mount was missing whether the ny law considers the detachable mag a "evil" feature i don't know but the federal law was very clear hope this helps
emr454 1
Im in Madison County, in a little town called Canastota. I doubt that anyone would question my gun around here because I shoot it on private property and there aren't very many people that live around me. I don't take it to public shooting ranges and when I do take it somewhere it is to a friends house who also lives in the country. I still want to know what I can and can't do to my gun just in case though.
