railroader 0
Just curious, how long have the galil orlite mags been produced? Are there preban ones floating around? Mark
JK-47 33
I am eager to find out as well. I have found preban steel R4 mags (south african copy of galil) but the steel galil mags are a pain to covert. I've been focusing on AK74 mags instead, but if there was a source for preban orlites I'd jump on it.
JK-47 33
You seem to be looking for preban mags. Heres three options: #1- East German Mags of any sort. East germany collapsed in 89' or 90'; well before the 94' ban. The reunified germany was a nato ally so they sold off the east german equiptment, including Ak74 mags etc. There is no way east germany was producing mags 4+ years after it ceased to exist, ergo EG bakelite mags and the east german weiger mags should all be considered preban, unless I'm missing somthing...? #2: The other option I know of is the russian plum magazines and bulgarian tan mags that copes is carrying now. http://www.copesdist.com/ak47.htm both are in used condition. I really like the look of russian plum mags. #3. Finnaly, http://www.ohiorapidfire.com/ has brand new Bulgarian tan mags, also avaliable in 4 packs for very reasonable prices. Also look into the possibility that if you state requires preban mags, it may also be illegal to modify those mags to the point that they no longer work in the original firearm they are intended for. It has somthing to do with "manufacturing a new hi-cap magazine" which I guess is broad enough to apply to taking a file to a the locking lugs... So be carefull whatever you do, there are a lot of nonsense laws out there.
MD_Willington 11
I thought you could take any mag before BJ's ban and make a high cap, i.e. take 2, 15 round M1 carbine mags and make a fat 30.. cause most of the surps were made way before that nonsense started. railroader 0
I'm just curious about the different plastic ak style mags if they were even around before 1994. I always thought ak mags were steel until I got interested in saigas. I'm well aware that there are different rules on mags and capacity for some of the states that are crime free utopias. JK-47 33
I believe sticking two preban mags together to make a new one creates a new- postban mag. You essentialy make two legal mags into one illegal one, not such a great deal. I mentioned at least 3 different preban plastic mags, and sources for them. Numrich has the bakelite EG's by the way. EG Bakelite, some Bulgarian tan mags (not sure if it's all of them- but some are) and Russian plum were all preban, plastic mags manufactured before 94'. There are also steel galil mags that a preban, but they are a pain to convert. I believe http://www.dsarms.com/ carries them. this thread may be helpfull: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...cognition+guide as may this page: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/shooter2_ind..._mag_guide.html

Please keep in mind, I am not an ATF employee, or a lawyer, or a magical horned frog...
JK-47 33
Maybe it's a state thing. All know is I plan to mod my gun to take stock mags and not the other way arround. Maybe get a rifle in 5.45x39mm too.
