Just ordered the last 7.62 x 39 16.3" (IZ-132) that stanley pro shop had. 259.96, free shipping, but since I am in georgia I had to pay 18.20 in tax which is less than most people ship. overall 278.16 so I feel I got a good deal. Does not have the dimples but oh well. Just felt if I did not get it I would be sorry. I got my S12 and they are damn hard to come by now. Just got the sense that is happening to the rifles too.

Must control gun purchase urges :cryss: I got an SKS last month and overall I am pleased with it but I should of gotten the saiga in the first place. I love my S12 and after playing with it and the SKS I have really come to appreciate how beautiful the saiga really is.

Any how just letting guys know I have reached another level of saiga ownership.

Next fever is for the .308.

Wow, that's some triple X rated porn there, Dinzag. What's the one in the middle with the drum? Looks like it was purchased that way.

And congratulations on your recent purchase, Ricionete. When I bought my Saiga, it was a close call between that and a real nice Russian SKS. I got the Saiga, had it converted, and I'm not sorry one bit. Especially since my last trip to the range last Monday. With my new Kobra Collimator sight, I got a 7 shot 2 inch group at 65 yards with it.

Mo better :D

Danzig I will definitely be ordering some stuff from you for the conversion. Definitely the bullet guide.

I saw the two of the nicest Russian SKSs yesterday. They looked perfectly brand new with the laminated stocks. The shop wanted 500 each for them. ouch. I think I paid a record price for my yugo but if I can get it to operate properly I will be okay with that.

I am going to try my first 3 gun competition the first sat in june. My attitude is it will just be fun but I hope I do well enough to catch the competitive bug. I am loving my new gun hobby big time. It is absurd but owning my S12 and doing the conversion on it I feel I have something special that not every kid has. I really like starting with the saiga and customizing them to be my gun. Plus all the AK variants confuse the hell out of me. When I am finished with my x39 I will at least have the satisfaction of knowing I probably will have as good (dependable, rugged, reasonably accurate) of an Russian AK as any one else.

Middle & top are my Saiga/Romy build. My main utility beater - no finish on the furniture.

No finish? Remember that Russian Laminate wood front hand guard I sent you? I kept the pistol girp, and refinished it because I did not like the shellac the ruskies put on it. I stripped it, and then stained it with an oil base (minwax) red oak stain, and finished it with their new indoor/outdoor polyurethane semi gloss finish in a spray can. Only took four coats. Dried real smooth, no runs or blemishes. Tuff as nails. I highly recommend it. That red oak stain is the ticket, too. Very close to the original color of the russian wood.

If I were you, I'd stock up on high cap mags before I did anything else. With the AWB looming, the price of mags will triple in price as soon as it picks up more steam. I like the 20 round mags. The thirties are to cumbersome for my tastes, however, to each his own. A good source for quality mags is http://www.akparts.com. They are currently sold out of the 20 round mags, but still list the 30's.
