Anyone try these in thier Saiga's yet?

Recommended Posts

I know that Promag is iffy on fit/function sometimes, but I was thinking this was a good price, especially for a US made mag. Anyone try them yet?

Promag .223s

They also have the Galil Orlites. These are cheaper, but don't give you +3 comp. parts. But, you get +5 rounds if you are already 922r compliant.

Orlites

Also, does anyone live near AIM surplus? I don't live that far and I was always curious if they have a showroom, or if you can purchase from them, then pick up you order?

If you do a quick search, you'll see that Orlites are some the prefferred hi-cap mags of choice for those who had added a bullet guide.

I got Dinzag's guide mod and with just a bit bit of sanding/grinding/filing, the Orlites work just great! I used my Dremel, but I think maybe a flat file would have made the job easier and look nicer, albeit a bit slower.

Thanks for the heads-up, though.... I can always use a couple more!

I don't even know where they are located, but I've done business with them on multiple occassions, by mail/e-mail, and NEVER had a problem. Obviously, 'your mileage may vary,' etc., etc.

(But I would not hesitate to do business with them again, myself, FWIW... ;>)

They are in Middletown, OH. I live just a few miles to the north, and west of Dayton. I'd hit them on one of my weekend trips to Cincinnati if I were to pick something up. With gas at $3.29 a gallon, I'd let UPS fill the tank!

Yeah, everyone likes the orlites. I'm kinda thinking about these:

Rapid fire's sweet deal.

4 for $30 bucks isn't bad! And, I live only 10 minutes from here! I can pick up a couple packs on my way back from the grocery store. Anyone have any experience with these? Dinzag's second choice.

I guess I should get a Saiga too! I don't own one yet, but I'm going to get one this summer. Just trying to get some ideas in my head. I like to plan ahead!

Vjor likes them, too:

I've never used them myself, because I got my Orlites when they were $5 each. But if I had to buy now, I would definitely lean towards the 4 Bulgies for $30 (and probably go for at least a dozen at that price ;>)...

They also have 12 packs of brand new bulgarian mags for 70$, which is about 5.80$ per mag, thats a pretty sweet deal IMHO. I was told over the phone that they are preban as well, for those of you in socialist states :chris: .

I've never heard anything bad about the Bulgy mags - if they're cheap, and you need .223 Saiga mags, buy twice as many as you think you might need (or maybe even three-times as many ;>)! Just my ignorant opinion...

Aim has no showroom, just a warehouse pickup window. You can go up to the window, pay, fill out paperwork and they will bring a gun boxed up outside to the gate. Its not like you can pick the gun you want, you get what they bring out,its a surprise just as if you ordered it to your FFL.The good thing is you could open it up and if you didnt like it you could just return it while your there.Im about 2hrs North of Aim..45 min from Ohio Rapid Fire.

Pointer,

Thanks for the info! Do you need an FFL to order at thier pickup window? I'm in West Milton, do you know where that is? I'm about 10 minutes due west of Troy (Rapid Fire).

Call AIM Surplus before you go there. They cut their store hours and no longer open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I found out the hard way this week when I drove there from Cincinnati. They also close from 12:30 to 1:30 for lunch.

Also call to make sure they have what you want in stock and if they can hold it for you while you drive there. Being a surplus dealer and high demand for some items means they may run out of stock and your being disappointed.
