Xkalifornian 0
Hello all, New guy here. Pretty new to rifles too. Do most of you go for the synthetic .308 models, or do a fair amount like the wood? I'm kind of torn between the two myself. And before you say to get 'em both, can only go for one right now. Are there any pros or cons between the two or is it simply personal preference? I can't seem to locate a wood one with the 16.3" barrel on any of the websites. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the input.
kresk 10,063
The wood is actually fairly nice and I left mine unconverted for that reason. If you have a leaning towards converting go for the synthetic.
Zebra 0
my personal preference is unconverted with wood stocks, converted more of the "evil black rifle" look. even converted you can find some nice wood to go on your rifle. I know at one time BattlerifleG3 was selling some wood furniture for converted rifles and from what I saw he does excellent work. it all boils down to this: you're going to have a great rifle either wood or synthetic, converted or unconverted. micah360 6
I like the wood... but I also have a synthetic set for it too. This one actually started life as a 22"... and went from there.
BobAsh 582
Personally I like the plastic. It's really an aesthetic question, I don't think there are any real performance differences.
Xkalifornian 0
Good inof guys, thanks. Still don't know were to get a 16.3" in wood. Any sites you can think of? Regards
micah360 6
I don't think they sell the 16 inchers in wood... just the 22s". You'd either have to buy a 22" and cut it, or buy a 16" and find some wood for it. Once and awhile there's usually someone who wants to sell their wood! BattleRifleG3 16
I still do furniture for both converted and unconverted Saiga rifles and shotguns. If it's a Saiga and it's in the states, I can outfit it with wood furniture. I have Saigas with both wood and synth furniture. The synth just can't be custom made as easily. dinzag 31
I prefer wood myself.

Archael 0
My friends wood foregrip doesn't seem to fit very well. There is a gap on one side and the other side is up against the gas tube. Don't know if this is adjustable or not and i'm hoping that there will be no play in this part of my Synthetic when it comes in.
