csspecs 1,987
It seems that my saigas gas pistons are coming loose, the 12 gauge has the most play in the gas piston about 1/8-1/4 of a turn and some side to side movement. Any fix for this? Can I weld the bolt carrier?
RDSWriter 5
How many rounds did you put through your S12 to get it to this point? Edited August 18, 2007 by RDSWriter
csspecs 1,987
The gun started to loosen at about 500 rounds, all target loads. I use the 2 gas setting because it won't even open the bolt with target loads in setting 1. My 7.62x39 has less movement but only about 300 rounds right now. I think welding the bolt carrier would work but I would like to know if there is a reason I should avoid doing this? It has two spot welds in the side but they look lighter than the welds on the other guns I have.
ArcFault 4
those aren't welds, they're staked dimples. You could try dimpling them further with a punch and a big hammer, but there probably isn't a problem with leaving them loose. I'm told they're supposed to be loose anyway. Maybe just drip a few drops of loctite in there?
