Alleycat 0
Somewhere I read that it is possible to convert a larger capacity magazine to fit and function in the SAIGA .308. I seem to think it was an FAL magazine, but am not certain. Does anyone know what will work? The little 8 round magazines are way under the potential for this fine rifle. Blackjack 1
I've been told by Mark Krebs that one can only use Galil mags when converting.
Sheik Yerbouti 0
Yeah, according to F-Troop, any high-cap mag mods must still allow the mag to fit and funtion in the original weapon it was designed for. I don't know how legal it is for the BATF to enforce that statement, but then these days, the Federal Government has no respect for any law that doesn't suit them. Alas, we are no longer a nation of laws.
bspring 0
Galil mags make the conversion easier but they are so darned expensive. Bill
Nomad1500 0
Hello, I'm new here so this may be old news. You can modify your 8rnd mag. to ten rounds easliy.
wildmann43 0
Bummer, page not found. ARFCom must be down. IIRC, individuals have experimented with M14 & FAL mags, with M14s being prefered. Modifying the gun to fit the mag is still acceptable but watch your US parts count. That's how we could pull off the MPA 971.
Alleycat 0
How does one modify the 8 round magazine to ten rounds??
Nomad1500 0
Alleycat, take the mag apart. Trim off the two post or stops on the bottom until you can add two more rounds. Some even cut the spring as well. I did not have to. It works and 10 plus one in the chamber is plenty for the mighty Saiga .308.

000buck 0
As long as you dont cut off too much and make it an 11 rounder, there shouldnt be anything wrong with that mod. At least I have never seen ANYTHING that says there is anything wrong that while browsing the BATF website.
BattleRifleG3 16
How about fabricating a new mag well and using G3 mags? Anyone care to measure their 308 Saiga mag and send me the dimensions so I can compare to my G3 ones when I get home?
