RDSWriter 5 Posted October 27, 2007 Report Share Posted October 27, 2007 I was looking for the old thread regarding filing down bolts to make it easier to seat a full mag. In short, I have a couple of older Kalashnikov USA S12s that have the old style bolt. I want to modify them... and it looks as easy as just filing down the bottom of the bolt to match the newer ones. Before I break out my file, I just wanted to check with some of the RKIs on the forum here to find out if I should be aware of any surprises or if they can link me to the older topic. I've attached pictures for those interested. the bolt on the right is the older style (without the additional cuts). Additionally I have posted the front recoil spring - old versus new. You'll not that the older one is coil shorter than the new ones (I cross-compared a couple to make sure). Thanks. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
