headshot 52
The S308 piston has no grooves, so does it matter that any replacement has the grooves? Do you just use the same standard compliance piston as the x39?
nalioth 405
None of the factory Saiga rifle pistons have grooves. Any US made piston of the same approximate size will work (iow, not the short piston for the AMD65). Edited December 21, 2007 by nalioth

nalioth 405
AK-74, AK-47 is too longFYI: I've used AKM pistons in all of my AK74 builds with no harmful effects. The length differences are negligible.
dinzag 31
There's about 1/4" difference in length.
G O B 3,516
Somewhere in an ancient post, I showed pix of the bolt carrier before and after I used an Arsenal piston with the flange. I just ground/filed the nose of the bolt carrier so the assembly would be the same overall length as the original. (PS this silly computator has spelcheck, from now on I will be making a lot less edits, and sounding a lot more intelligent!)
