Choke check

Recommended Posts

I was given a S-20 for Xmas and do not know alot about them but i am puzzeled

about the actual choke on this gun. It is a 19inch model without the threads for

additional chokes. The manual states that 09 marked on the left side means that

the barrel is Full Choke. Looking at it got me to wonder if this was right, so I

measured the inside diameter at the muzzle with dial calipers and it measured out

at .615 which would indicate that it is really a cylinder bore on this Saiga. I hope

that some of you guys can set me straight as to what the scoop is on this. It could

be that I am confused about this but the manual that came with my gun does seem

to be a little short on information. I posted this in General Disscusion as a guest

before I registered but did not get any response. I hope someone here can help

me out with my confusion. Thanks, from a nubee!

I would place my money on CYLINDER BORE.....ALthough, I would call it "Improved Cylinder" Its probably just a teensy bit tighter than cylinder bore diameter...

I have yet to see any stock barrels that are not IC... I am not saying they dont exist, just that all the guns that have been talked about, or seen for sale were ALL IC.... If there were any full choke barrels out there... damn... I would want one! LOL

Thanks for the reply Indyarms. I had a feeling that i got shortchanged with the

manual that came from EAA with the gun. But I thought that most of the guys with

the S-20 got the full choke models. The Saiga I have will not shoot the cheap

shells that come in the 100 packs from Wal-Mart. It takes at least 1oz. loads to be

reliable. I plan on shooting the devil out of it anyway.
