mstranglr 9
I am in the process of customizing a new .308 I got last week. I thought I would try out something different with the new Surefire Furniture trimmed to fit with the vented upper hand guard. I still have to paint, do muzzle work, and add optics. mstranglr 9
That looks outstanding - what upper is that? Chinese. Nope, Made in the USA. Bought it from Blackjackbuffers. The upper and tube are one unit. I had to do minor dremeling to make it fit. http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/index.php?...products_id=

The link sent me to a upper handguard /gas tube only. Your set up was not to be seen.

Nailbomb 10,221
Looks great. Hope you don't mind me saying but the HG setup has a similar but slightly different flavor to my shotgun. Its interesting to me that you kept the one raised section on the surefire instead of leveling the whole thing out. The surefire looks so much nicer on a rifle in full length. The whole gun overall has a long, austere, buisness up front, industrial apearance to it. Its wonderful
Paladin 37
So is the Surefire front HG a stock handguard milled out with pic rails? I'm building a DMR style .308 right now and have considered them.
mstranglr 9
Saigaczech, I bought the Surefire hand guard from Gilbert's Guns, they were the only ones that had it available for immediate shipping. Try some of the sponsors on this board, as they may have them in stock now. Nailbomb, when I first put the Surefire forearm on this rifle, I really did not like the way it looked. I had a vented upper HG for another project and kind of placed it on top and thought it had merit, so I brought out the Dremel and went that route. Remember, a lot of Cutting (dremeling) will be necessary to fit a upper hand guard to the Surefire forearm. You could do the same thing to the stock forearm and save $70. I left the raised section because I thought that it framed the upper nicely and gave it a "molded that way" look, rather than a hatchet job look. Paladin, I am also going the DMR route with my new 308 also. The Surefire forearm is not a modified factory forearm. The surefire is molded out of better material than the factory one, significantly more rigid but lighter in weight.

I am not sure if any of the forum dealers offer a coating service like Duracoat. You may want to look and see if that is available. Greg
