sicktooth 8
Ever wonder why people stock up on non perishables and water? Here you go! I about shit myself when we went to the grocery store...this whole flood thing is getting pretty hairy. Every day they are raising the crest by a foot, then another, then another...its up to 42-43 feet right now...AND THE SNOW IS STILL COMING DOWN! South Fargo has been evacuated and the sandbags weren't enough for some places. South of town in Oxbow got it pretty bad too, scoped that out 2 days ago...and it flooded yesterday. They are even building levees to protect the Interstate from becoming a giant pool. It's like the end of the world is coming around here...its a shitty situation for many, and a learning experience for everyone. There has been so many volunteers in town, plus all the schools and business's have been closed for most of the week to help fight this shit. The National Guard, Coast Guard, Boarder Patrol, and Police are EVERYWHERE! They are escorting sand trucks and loaders to get all the fill to where it needs to go faster. I'm going to go out and try to take some pictures of the river tomorrow...its absolutely amazing. Back in 1997 was the highest its ever got, that's when Grand Forks turned into a burning hellfire lake...this will be worse if anything fails to hold back the water...and its not supposed to be going down for 5 to 7 days when it finally does crest! They are telling people to limit water usage, and tonight I heard that they were debating shutting it off completely...oh and the water has a wonderful funk to it at the moment. Also they were talking about closing all major roads at midnight tonight to limit traffic just in case the need to evacuate immediately. They arrested 8 people last night for wandering into or onto the levees...fucking retards. The radio stations were also announcing that if you were caught sight seeing, they would be sent to help sandbag. I'm sure some have seen much worse...at least we have a heads up...but this is still quite surreal for me.
Koliadko 207
I saw that on the weather channel. Got lots of water up there. I've already said a little prayer for all up there dealing with it.

Ruffian72 548
My baby girl goes to college up there. NDSU 2nd year. Been in a group of college students filling sandbags since Monday. As a dad, was going to go get her or make her leave. Or just go to watch out for her. Her mother raised her right. She told me no way. They were staying until ordered out and for me to stay home. Ever notice how non liberal run areas deal with natural disasters.
